When the people saw how long it was taking Moses to come back down the mountain, they gathered around Aaron.“ Come on,” they said,“ make us some gods who can lead us. We don’t know what happened to this fellow Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt.”

百姓见摩西迟延不下山，就大家聚集到亚伦那里，对他说：“起来！为我们做神像，可以在我们前面引路；因为领我们出埃及地的那个摩西，我们不知道他遭了什么事。”

百姓见摩西迟迟不下山，就聚集到亚伦那里，对他说：“起来！为我们造神明，在我们前面引路，因为领我们出埃及地的那个摩西，我们不知道他遭遇了什么事。”

百姓见摩西迟迟没有下山，就聚集到亚伦那里，对他说：“领我们离开埃及的那个摩西不知怎样了，你给我们造神像来带领我们吧。”

人民见摩西迟迟不下山，就聚集到亚伦那里去，对他说：“起来，为我们做神像可以走在我们前头领路，因为那摩西，就是把我们从埃及地领出来的那个人，我们不知道他遭遇了什么事。”

人民見摩西遲遲不下山，就聚集到亞倫那裡去，對他說：“起來，為我們做神像可以走在我們前頭領路，因為那摩西，就是把我們從埃及地領出來的那個人，我們不知道他遭遇了甚麼事。”

人民見摩西拖延着下山，就聚集去見亞倫，對他說：『起來，給我們造神像可以在我們前面引路的，因為那摩西、那領我們從埃及地上來的那個人、我們不知道他怎麼樣了。』

民見摩西遲迴於山不下、則集於亞倫前曰、爾其為我造神像、以為我之先導、蓋率我出埃及之摩西、不知其何所遇矣、

民見摩西遲回於山不下、則集亞倫前、曰摩西率我出埃及、今彼不知所往、爾盍鑄上帝像、為我先導。

民見摩西遲延不下山、遂紛集於亞倫前、曰、起、為我儕造神、可為我前導、蓋導我儕出伊及之摩西、不知其何遇、

When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said,“ Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.”

The people saw that Moses took a long time to come down from the mountain. So they gathered around Aaron. They said to him,“ Come. Make us a god that will lead us. This fellow Moses brought us up out of Egypt. But we don’t know what has happened to him.”

When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him,“ Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”

When the people saw that Moses delayed in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said to him,“ Come, make gods for us who will go before us because this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt— we don’t know what has happened to him!”

Now when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people assembled around Aaron and said to him,“ Come, make us a god who will go before us; for this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt— we do not know what happened to him.”

Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him,“ Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”

And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him.

When the people saw that Moses delayed in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said to him,“ Get up, make us gods that will go before us. As for this fellow Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him!”

When the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him,“ Come, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.”

They will say,“ What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.”

This happened when I was on the mountain receiving the tablets of stone inscribed with the words of the covenant that the Lord had made with you. I was there for forty days and forty nights, and all that time I ate no food and drank no water.

But what if the servant is evil and thinks,‘ My master won’t be back for a while,’

They told Aaron,‘ Make us some gods who can lead us, for we don’t know what has become of this Moses, who brought us out of Egypt.’

Then Moses disappeared into the cloud as he climbed higher up the mountain. He remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

The Lord replied,“ I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest— everything will be fine for you.”Then Moses said,“ If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place.

For I brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from slavery. I sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam to help you.

“ At the end of the forty days and nights, the Lord handed me the two stone tablets inscribed with the words of the covenant.Then the Lord said to me,‘ Get up! Go down immediately, for the people you brought out of Egypt have corrupted themselves. How quickly they have turned away from the way I commanded them to live! They have melted gold and made an idol for themselves!’

The Lord told Moses,“ Quick! Go down the mountain! Your people whom you brought from the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves.

The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night.

and they said to Moses,“ Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt?

Then by a prophet the Lord brought Jacob’s descendants out of Egypt; and by that prophet they were protected.

But Moses tried to pacify the Lord his God.“ O Lord!” he said.“ Why are you so angry with your own people whom you brought from the land of Egypt with such great power and such a strong hand?

But when they had gone only a short distance and were barely out of the city, Joseph said to his palace manager,“ Chase after them and stop them. When you catch up with them, ask them,‘ Why have you repaid my kindness with such evil?

“ But be very careful! You did not see the Lord’s form on the day he spoke to you from the heart of the fire at Mount Sinai.So do not corrupt yourselves by making an idol in any form— whether of a man or a woman,an animal on the ground, a bird in the sky,a small animal that scurries along the ground, or a fish in the deepest sea.

Go up to this land that flows with milk and honey. But I will not travel among you, for you are a stubborn and rebellious people. If I did, I would surely destroy you along the way.”

“ Get up! Command the people to purify themselves in preparation for tomorrow. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Hidden among you, O Israel, are things set apart for the Lord. You will never defeat your enemies until you remove these things from among you.

So Lot rushed out to tell his daughters’ fiancés,“ Quick, get out of the city! The Lord is about to destroy it.” But the young men thought he was only joking.

But Joseph refused.“ Look,” he told her,“ my master trusts me with everything in his entire household.

“ What have you done?” Joseph demanded.“ Don’t you know that a man like me can predict the future?”

“ If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned.“ There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.”

And since this is true, we shouldn’t think of God as an idol designed by craftsmen from gold or silver or stone.

“ You must not have any other god but me.“ You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea.You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected— even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.

Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into.

“ This is the first I’ve heard of it,” Abimelech answered.“ I have no idea who is responsible. You have never complained about this before.”

But as you have seen and heard, this man Paul has persuaded many people that handmade gods aren’t really gods at all. And he’s done this not only here in Ephesus but throughout the entire province!
