For six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day is to be put to death.

到第七日，神已經完成了造物之工，就在第七日安息了，歇了他所做一切的工。

「六日你要做工，第七日要安息，即使在耕種或收割的時候也要安息。

「你們若留意聽從我，在安息日不挑甚麼擔子進入這城的各門，只以安息日為聖日，在那日不做任何工作，這是耶和華說的，就必有坐大衛寶座的君王和領袖，與猶大人，並耶路撒冷的居民，或坐車，或騎馬，進入這城的各門，而且這城必存到永遠。也必有人從猶大城鎮和耶路撒冷四圍的各處，從便雅憫地、謝非拉、山區，並尼革夫而來，都帶燔祭和祭物，素祭和乳香，並感謝祭，到耶和華的殿去。你們若不聽從我，不以安息日為聖日，仍在安息日挑擔子進入耶路撒冷的各城門，我必在城門中點火；這火必燒燬耶路撒冷的宮殿，不會熄滅。」

她們就回去，預備了香料香膏。在安息日，她們遵照誡命安息了。

六日要做工，第七日你們要奉為向耶和華守完全安息的安息聖日。凡在這日做工的，要被處死。

「當記念安息日，守為聖日。六日要勞碌做你一切的工，但第七日是向耶和華－你的神當守的安息日。這一日你和你的兒女、奴僕、婢女、牲畜，以及你城裏寄居的客旅，都不可做任何的工。因為六日之內，耶和華造天、地、海和其中的萬物，第七日就安息了；所以耶和華賜福與安息日，定為聖日。

這樣看來，另有一安息日的安息為神的子民保留着。

這是我和以色列人之間永遠的記號，因為六日之內耶和華造天地，第七日就安息舒暢。」

你們要守安息日，以它為聖日。凡干犯這日的，必被處死；凡在這日做工的，那人必從百姓中剪除。

以色列人還在曠野的時候，發現有一個人在安息日撿柴。發現他撿柴的人把他帶到摩西、亞倫以及全會眾那裏。他們把他收押在監裏，因為還不知道要怎樣懲罰他。耶和華吩咐摩西說：「這人應當處死；全會眾要在營外用石頭打死他。」於是全會眾把他帶到營外，用石頭打死他，是照耶和華所吩咐摩西的。

主耶和華如此說：「內院朝東的門，在六個工作的日子必須關閉；惟有安息日和初一要敞開。

會堂的主管因為耶穌在安息日治病，就很生氣，對眾人說：「有六天應當做工，那六天之內可以來求醫，在安息日卻不可。」

六天可以收集，第七天是安息日，這一天甚麼也沒有了。」

你們要守這日為完全安息的安息日，刻苦己心；從這月初九晚上到次日晚上，你們要守為安息日。」
