「你六日要做工，第七日要安息，雖在耕種收割的時候也要安息。

耶和華說：「你們若留意聽從我，在安息日不擔甚麼擔子進入這城的各門，只以安息日為聖日，在那日無論何工都不做；那時就有坐大衛寶座的君王和首領，他們與猶大人，並耶路撒冷的居民，或坐車，或騎馬，進入這城的各門，而且這城必存到永遠。也必有人從猶大城邑和耶路撒冷四圍的各處，從便雅憫地、高原、山地，並南地而來，都帶燔祭、平安祭、素祭，和乳香，並感謝祭，到耶和華的殿去。你們若不聽從我，不以安息日為聖日，仍在安息日擔擔子，進入耶路撒冷的各門，我必在各門中點火；這火也必燒毀耶路撒冷的宮殿，不能熄滅。」

她們就回去，預備了香料香膏。她們在安息日，便遵着誡命安息了。

六日要做工，第七日乃為聖日，當向耶和華守為安息聖日。凡這日之內做工的，必把他治死。

「當記念安息日，守為聖日。六日要勞碌做你一切的工，但第七日是向耶和華－你神當守的安息日。這一日你和你的兒女、僕婢、牲畜，並你城裏寄居的客旅，無論何工都不可做；因為六日之內，耶和華造天、地、海，和其中的萬物，第七日便安息，所以耶和華賜福與安息日，定為聖日。

這樣看來，必另有一安息日的安息為神的子民存留。

這是我和以色列人永遠的證據；因為六日之內耶和華造天地，第七日便安息舒暢。」

所以你們要守安息日，以為聖日。凡干犯這日的，必要把他治死；凡在這日做工的，必從民中剪除。

以色列人在曠野的時候，遇見一個人在安息日撿柴。遇見他撿柴的人，就把他帶到摩西、亞倫並全會眾那裏，將他收在監內；因為當怎樣辦他，還沒有指明。耶和華吩咐摩西說：「總要把那人治死；全會眾要在營外用石頭把他打死。」於是全會眾將他帶到營外，用石頭打死他，是照耶和華所吩咐摩西的。

主耶和華如此說：「內院朝東的門，在辦理事務的六日內必須關閉；惟有安息日和月朔必須敞開。

管會堂的因為耶穌在安息日治病，就氣忿忿地對眾人說：「有六日應當做工；那六日之內可以來求醫，在安息日卻不可。」

六天可以收取，第七天乃是安息日，那一天必沒有了。」

你們要守這日為聖安息日，並要刻苦己心。從這月初九日晚上到次日晚上，要守為安息日。」
