“‘ Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it is to be put to death; those who do any work on that day must be cut off from their people.

謹守安息日不褻瀆這日，保守自己的手不做任何惡事——這樣行、這樣堅守的人，是蒙福的！」不要讓歸附於耶和華的外邦人說：「耶和華必定會把我從他的子民中分離出去。」也不要讓被閹割的人說：「看哪，我是一棵枯樹！」因為耶和華如此說：「對於那些謹守我的安息日、選擇我所喜悅的事、堅守我約的被閹割之人，我必在我的殿中牆內，賜給他們紀念柱和名號，比有兒女更好；我必賜給他們永不剪除的名號。至於那些歸附於耶和華的外邦人，就是為了事奉他、愛他的名、作他僕人的——每一個謹守安息日不褻瀆這日，又堅守我約的人，

「如果你在安息日克制自己的腳步，在我的聖日不行自己所喜悅的事；如果你稱安息日為可喜樂的，稱耶和華的聖日為可尊重的；如果你尊重這日，不行自己的路，不求自己所喜悅的事，不按自己的意思說話；那麼，你就必以我耶和華為樂；我要使你乘駕於大地的高處，並要用你先祖雅各的繼業養活你。」這是耶和華親口說的。
