And they will listen to your voice, and you and the elders of Israel shall go to the king of Egypt and say to him,‘ The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us; and now, please let us go a three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.’

“ The elders of Israel will accept your message. Then you and the elders must go to the king of Egypt and tell him,‘ The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. So please let us take a three day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the Lord, our God.’

Then they will pay attention to what you say; and you with the elders of Israel will come to the king of Egypt, and you will say to him,‘ The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. So now, please let us go a three days’ journey into the wilderness, so that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.’

Then they will heed your voice; and you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt; and you shall say to him,‘ The Lord God of the Hebrews has met with us; and now, please, let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.’

“ The elders will listen to you, and then you and the elders of Israel must go to the king of Egypt and tell him,‘ The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. So now, let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, so that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.’

They will listen to your voice. You shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt, and you shall tell him,‘ Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to Yahweh, our God.’

Then the LORD said to Moses,“ Go in to Pharaoh and say to him: This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.

Tell him: The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to tell you: Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the wilderness. But so far you have not listened.

We will obey you, just as we obeyed Moses in everything. Certainly the LORD your God will be with you, as he was with Moses.

Pharaoh summoned Moses and said,“ Go, worship the LORD. Even your families may go with you; only your flocks and herds must stay behind.”Moses responded,“ You must also let us have sacrifices and burnt offerings to prepare for the LORD our God.Even our livestock must go with us; not a hoof will be left behind because we will take some of them to worship the LORD our God. We will not know what we will use to worship the LORD until we get there.”

Also, the power of God was at work in Judah to unite them to carry out the command of the king and his officials by the word of the LORD.

“ Go and assemble the elders of Israel and say to them: The LORD, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has appeared to me and said: I have paid close attention to you and to what has been done to you in Egypt.

Then the LORD said to Moses,“ Get up early in the morning and present yourself to Pharaoh. Tell him: This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.

This will be a regular burnt offering throughout your generations at the entrance to the tent of meeting before the LORD, where I will meet you to speak with you.I will also meet with the Israelites there, and that place will be consecrated by my glory.

“ You are to place the altar in front of the curtain by the ark of the testimony— in front of the mercy seat that is over the testimony— where I will meet with you.

I will meet with you there above the mercy seat, between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the testimony; I will speak with you from there about all that I command you regarding the Israelites.

After these events, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield; your reward will be very great.

The people believed, and when they heard that the LORD had paid attention to them and that he had seen their misery, they knelt low and worshiped.Later, Moses and Aaron went in and said to Pharaoh,“ This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Let my people go, so that they may hold a festival for me in the wilderness.”But Pharaoh responded,“ Who is the LORD that I should obey him by letting Israel go? I don’t know the LORD, and besides, I will not let Israel go.”They answered,“ The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please let us go on a three-day trip into the wilderness so that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God, or else he may strike us with plague or sword.”

Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said,“ Go sacrifice to your God within the country.”But Moses said,“ It would not be right to do that, because what we will sacrifice to the LORD our God is detestable to the Egyptians. If we sacrifice what the Egyptians detest in front of them, won’t they stone us?We must go a distance of three days into the wilderness and sacrifice to the LORD our God as he instructs us.”Pharaoh responded,“ I will let you go and sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness, but don’t go very far. Make an appeal for me.”

Balaam said to Balak,“ Stay here by your burnt offering while I seek the LORD over there.”The LORD met with Balaam and put a message in his mouth. Then he said,“ Return to Balak and say what I tell you.”

Grind some of it into a fine powder and put some in front of the testimony in the tent of meeting, where I will meet with you. It must be especially holy to you.

Then place them in the tent of meeting in front of the testimony where I meet with you.

They stopped asking,“ Where is the LORD who brought us from the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and ravines, through a land of drought and darkness, a land no one traveled through and where no one lived?”

So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and told him,“ This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may worship me.

When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them along the road to the land of the Philistines, even though it was nearby; for God said,“ The people will change their minds and return to Egypt if they face war.”So he led the people around toward the Red Sea along the road of the wilderness. And the Israelites left the land of Egypt in battle formation.

He answered,“ I will certainly be with you, and this will be the sign to you that I am the one who sent you: when you bring the people out of Egypt, you will all worship God at this mountain.”

Jacob said to Joseph,“ God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me.

Your people will volunteer on your day of battle. In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, the dew of your youth belongs to you.

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him, saying,“ I am God Almighty. Live in my presence and be blameless.

“ Go and announce directly to Jerusalem that this is what the LORD says: I remember the loyalty of your youth, your love as a bride— how you followed me in the wilderness, in a land not sown.

You welcome the one who joyfully does what is right; they remember you in your ways. But we have sinned, and you were angry. How can we be saved if we remain in our sins?

and by listening to the words of my servants the prophets— whom I have been sending to you time and time again, though you did not listen—

Balaam said to Balak,“ Stay here by your burnt offering while I am gone. Maybe the LORD will meet with me. I will tell you whatever he reveals to me.” So he went to a barren hill.God met with him and Balaam said to him,“ I have arranged seven altars and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.”

In the third month from the very day the Israelites left the land of Egypt, they came to the Sinai Wilderness.

On the trip, at an overnight campsite, it happened that the LORD confronted him and intended to put him to death.

The LORD said to Abram: Go from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.
