Then he put the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.

When evening arrives he must wash himself with water and then at sunset he may reenter the camp.

“ You are also to make a large bronze basin with a bronze stand for washing. You are to put it between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it,and Aaron and his sons must wash their hands and their feet from it.When they enter the tent of meeting, they must wash with water so that they do not die. Also, when they approach the altar to minister by burning incense as an offering made by fire to the LORD,they must wash their hands and their feet so that they do not die. And this will be a perpetual ordinance for them and for their descendants throughout their generations.”

Peter said to him,“ You will never wash my feet!” Jesus replied,“ If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.”Simon Peter said to him,“ Lord, wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!”Jesus replied,“ The one who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not every one of you.”

And this prefigured baptism, which now saves you– not the washing off of physical dirt but the pledge of a good conscience to God– through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

he saved us not by works of righteousness that we have done but on the basis of his mercy, through the washing of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit,

and from Jesus Christ– the faithful witness, the firstborn from among the dead, the ruler over the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and has set us free from our sins at the cost of his own bloodand has appointed us as a kingdom, as priests serving his God and Father– to him be the glory and the power for ever and ever! Amen.

I will sprinkle you with pure water and you will be clean from all your impurities. I will purify you from all your idols.
