耶和華聞那馨香之氣，就心裏說：「我不再因人的緣故咒詛地（人從小時心裏懷着惡念），也不再按着我才行的滅各種的活物了。

以撒對他父親亞伯拉罕說：「父親哪！」亞伯拉罕說：「我兒，我在這裏。」以撒說：「請看，火與柴都有了，但燔祭的羊羔在哪裏呢？」

所羅門王上基遍去獻祭；因為在那裏有極大的邱壇，他在那壇上獻一千犧牲作燔祭。

有火從耶和華面前出來，在壇上燒盡燔祭和脂油；眾民一見，就都歡呼，俯伏在地。

於是，耶和華降下火來，燒盡燔祭、木柴、石頭、塵土，又燒乾溝裏的水。

並且盡心、盡智、盡力愛他，又愛人如己，就比一切燔祭和各樣祭祀好的多。」

也要憑愛心行事，正如基督愛我們，為我們捨了自己，當作馨香的供物和祭物，獻與神。

耶和華說：你們所獻的許多祭物與我何益呢？公綿羊的燔祭和肥畜的脂油，我已經夠了；公牛的血，羊羔的血，公山羊的血，我都不喜悅。

神說：「你帶着你的兒子，就是你獨生的兒子，你所愛的以撒，往摩利亞地去，在我所要指示你的山上，把他獻為燔祭。」

燔祭和贖罪祭是你不喜歡的。那時我說：神啊，我來了，為要照你的旨意行；我的事在經卷上已經記載了。以上說：「祭物和禮物，燔祭和贖罪祭，是你不願意的，也是你不喜歡的（這都是按着律法獻的）」；後又說：「我來了為要照你的旨意行」；可見他是除去在先的，為要立定在後的。我們憑這旨意，靠耶穌基督，只一次獻上他的身體，就得以成聖。

我並不因你的祭物責備你；你的燔祭常在我面前。

撒母耳就把一隻吃奶的羊羔獻與耶和華作全牲的燔祭，為以色列人呼求耶和華；耶和華就應允他。

從示巴出的乳香，從遠方出的菖蒲奉來給我有何益呢？你們的燔祭不蒙悅納；你們的平安祭，我也不喜悅。

萬軍之耶和華－以色列的神如此說：「你們將燔祭加在平安祭上，吃肉吧！因為我將你們列祖從埃及地領出來的那日，燔祭平安祭的事我並沒有提說，也沒有吩咐他們。

要從他們手中接過來，燒在耶和華面前壇上的燔祭上，是獻給耶和華為馨香的火祭。

亞伯拉罕舉目觀看，不料，有一隻公羊，兩角扣在稠密的小樹中。亞伯拉罕就取了那隻公羊來，獻為燔祭，代替他的兒子。

但我樣樣都有，並且有餘。我已經充足，因我從以巴弗提受了你們的餽送，當作極美的香氣，為神所收納、所喜悅的祭物。

要拿着鳥的兩個翅膀，把鳥撕開，只是不可撕斷；祭司要在壇上、在火的柴上焚燒。這是燔祭，是獻與耶和華為馨香的火祭。」
