耶和华闻了那馨香的气味，就心里说：“我必不再因人的缘故咒诅这地（因为人从小时开始心中所想的都是邪恶的）；我也必不再照着我作过的，击杀各样的活物。

以撒问他父亲亚伯拉罕说：“爸爸！”亚伯拉罕回答：“我儿！有什么事？”以撒说：“你看，火与柴都有了，可是献燔祭用的羊羔在哪里呢？”

有一次，王到基遍去献祭，因为那里有极大的邱坛。所罗门在那祭坛上献上了一千燔祭。

有火从耶和华面前出来，烧尽了祭坛上的燔祭和脂肪；众民看见了，就大声欢呼，俯伏在地。

于是有耶和华的火降下来，吞灭了燔祭、木柴、石头和尘土，连沟里的水也烧干了。

我们要用全心、全意、全力去爱他，并且要爱人如己，这就比一切燔祭和各样祭物好得多了。”

要凭着爱心行事，好像基督爱我们，为我们舍己，当作馨香的供品和祭物献给神。

耶和华说：“你们献上众多祭物，对我有什么益处呢？公绵羊的燔祭和肥畜的脂肪，我已经够了；公牛、羊羔和公山羊的血，我都不喜悦。

神说：“带着你的儿子，就是你所爱的独生子以撒，到摩利亚地去，在我所要指示你的一座山上，把他献为燔祭。”

燔祭和赎罪祭，不是你所喜悦的；那时我说：‘看哪！我来了，经卷上已经记载我的事，神啊！我来是要遵行你的旨意。’”前面说：“祭品和礼物，燔祭和赎罪祭，不是你所要的，也不是你所喜悦的。”这些都是按照律法献的；接着又说：“看哪！我来了，是要遵行你的旨意。”可见他废除那先前的，为要建立那后来的。我们凭着这旨意，藉着耶稣基督一次献上他的身体，就已经成圣。

我不是因你的祭物责备你，你的燔祭常在我面前。

撒母耳就牵来一只还在吃奶的羊羔，把它作全牲的燔祭献给耶和华，又为以色列人向耶和华呼求，耶和华就应允他。

从示巴来的乳香，从远地出的菖蒲，献给我有什么益处呢？你们的燔祭不蒙悦纳，你们的祭祀我不喜悦。”

万军之耶和华以色列的神这样说：“你们尽管把燔祭加在平安祭上，自己吃祭肉吧！因为我把你们列祖从埃及地领出来的那日，燔祭和平安祭的事，我并没有向他们提说，也没有吩咐他们。

你要从他们手中接过来，向着祭坛把这些东西烧在燔祭之上，在耶和华面前作馨香之气，这是献给耶和华的火祭。

亚伯拉罕举目观望，看见在后面有一只公绵羊，两角扣在稠密的小树丛中；亚伯拉罕就去取了那只公绵羊，把它献为燔祭，代替自己的儿子。

你们所送的我都全数收到了，而且绰绰有余；我已经足够了，因我从以巴弗提收到你们所送的，好像馨香之气，是神所接纳所喜悦的祭物。

然后要拿着两个翅膀把鸟撕裂，只是不可撕断。祭司要把它放在祭坛，在炭火上的木柴上面焚烧，作为燔祭，就是献给耶和华馨香的火祭。”
