耶和華聞到這燔祭的馨香，心想：「雖然人從小就心存惡念，但我再不會因為人的緣故而咒詛大地，再不會毀滅一切生靈。

以撒說：「父親。」亞伯拉罕說：「孩子，什麼事？」以撒說：「你看，火種和柴都有了，但獻燔祭用的羊羔在哪裡呢？」

有一次，所羅門王上基遍獻了一千頭祭牲作燔祭，因為那裡有最重要的邱壇。

有火從耶和華那裡降下來，燒盡祭壇上的燔祭和脂肪。民眾看見這景象，都歡呼起來，俯伏在地。

於是，耶和華降火燒盡了祭物、木柴、石頭、塵土，甚至溝裡的水。

我們要全心、全意、全力愛祂，又要愛鄰如己。這樣做比獻什麼祭都好。」

要以愛心待人，像基督愛我們一樣，祂為我們犧牲自己作為獻給上帝的馨香供物和祭物。

耶和華說：「你們獻上許多祭物，對我有什麼用呢？我厭煩公綿羊的燔祭和肥畜的脂肪，我不喜歡公牛、羊羔和公山羊的血。

上帝說：「帶著你的兒子，你的獨生子，你疼愛的以撒前往摩利亞，在我指示你的山上把他獻為燔祭。」

你並非喜愛燔祭和贖罪祭。於是我說，『上帝啊，我來是要遵行你的旨意，我的事都記在聖經上了。』」基督首先說：「祭物、供物、燔祭和贖罪祭都不是你想要的，也不是你喜悅的。」這些都是依照律法獻上的。然後祂又說：「我來是要遵行你的旨意。」這樣，祂廢除了前者，為要設立後者。上帝的旨意是：耶穌基督只一次獻上自己的身體，便使我們永遠聖潔了。

我責怪你，不是因為你的祭物，也不是因為你經常獻給我的燔祭。

撒母耳把一隻還在吃奶的羊獻給耶和華作全牲燔祭。他為以色列人呼求耶和華，耶和華垂聽了他的祈求。

從示巴運來乳香，從遠方帶來菖蒲獻給我，有什麼用呢？我不悅納他們的燔祭，不喜歡他們的牲畜。」

以色列的上帝——萬軍之耶和華說：「你們把平安祭連同燔祭都拿去吃吧！因為我把你們祖先帶出埃及的時候，並沒有吩咐他們獻燔祭或其他祭物，

然後，你要把這些祭物接過來，放在祭壇上焚燒獻給耶和華，成為蒙耶和華悅納的馨香火祭。

這時亞伯拉罕抬起頭來，突然看見有一隻公綿羊兩角卡在稠密的樹叢中，於是把羊取來代替他的兒子獻為燔祭。

我現在樣樣都有，豐富有餘。我從以巴弗提手上收到了你們送給我的禮物，已經充足了。這些饋贈是蒙上帝悅納的馨香祭物。

祭司要抓著兩個翅膀把鳥撕開，但不可撕斷，然後把鳥放在壇上焚燒。這是燔祭，是蒙耶和華悅納的馨香火祭。
