He then took the covenant scroll and read it aloud to the people. They responded,“ We will do and obey all that the LORD has commanded.”

He rose early the next morning and set up an altar and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel at the base of the mountain.

when all Israel assembles in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he chooses, you are to read this law aloud before all Israel.Gather the people— men, women, dependents, and the resident aliens within your city gates— so that they may listen and learn to fear the LORD your God and be careful to follow all the words of this law.Then their children who do not know the law will listen and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”

That is why even the first covenant was inaugurated with blood.For when every command had been proclaimed by Moses to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and goats, along with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll itself and all the people,saying, This is the blood of the covenant that God has ordained for you.In the same way, he sprinkled the tabernacle and all the articles of worship with blood.According to the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.Therefore, it was necessary for the copies of the things in the heavens to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves to be purified with better sacrifices than these.

However, I did give them this command:‘ Obey me, and then I will be your God, and you will be my people. Follow every way I command you so that it may go well with you.’Yet they didn’t listen or pay attention but followed their own advice and their own stubborn, evil heart. They went backward and not forward.

I charge you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the brothers and sisters.

After the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to them, saying,“ Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, you can speak.”

After this letter has been read at your gathering, have it read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you also read the letter from Laodicea.
