亞希雅將身上的新衣撕作十二片，

他們為此獻上一百頭公牛犢，二百隻公綿羊和四百隻綿羊羔，又照以色列十二支派的數目獻上十二隻公山羊，作全體以色列人的贖罪祭。

使你們在我的國中和我一同坐席，並且坐在寶座上審判以色列的十二個支派。」

約書亞把從約旦河取來的十二塊石頭立在吉甲，

「你去從民眾中選出十二個人，每支派選一人，吩咐他們從約旦河床祭司站立的地方取十二塊石頭，放在你們今天晚上住宿的地方。」

約書亞把這些話都寫在上帝的律法書上，又把一塊大石頭豎立在耶和華聖所旁邊的橡樹下。然後，他對民眾說：「看啊，這塊石頭可以為我們作證，它聽到了耶和華所吩咐我們的話。如果你們背棄上帝，它必作證。」

當時被譽為教會柱石的雅各、彼得和約翰明白了上帝賜給我的恩典之後，就與我和巴拿巴用右手行相交之禮，讓我們向外族人傳福音，他們向受割禮的人傳福音。

你們要為我築一座土壇，把你們的牛羊獻在壇上作燔祭和平安祭。凡是我使自己的名號被尊崇的地方，我會親臨那裡賜福給你們。你們若為我築石壇，不可用鑿刻的石頭，因為用工具鑿刻的石頭會玷污祭壇。不可踩著臺階登我的祭壇，免得露出你們的下體。

以色列人就照約書亞的吩咐，也就是照耶和華對約書亞的吩咐，按以色列人支派的數目，從約旦河中取了十二塊石頭，搬來放在住宿的地方。約書亞又在約旦河床抬約櫃的祭司站立的地方立了十二塊石頭。石頭至今還在那裡。

城牆共有十二塊基石，基石上刻著羔羊的十二位使徒的名字。

要用刻圖章的方法在每一顆寶石上刻一個以色列兒子的名字，十二顆寶石代表十二支派。
