“ Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd,

“ Do not follow the crowd when they do what is wrong. When you are a witness in court, do not turn what is right into what is wrong. Do not go along with the crowd.

“ You must not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you are called to testify in a dispute, do not be swayed by the crowd to twist justice.

“ You must not follow a crowd in wrongdoing. Do not testify in a lawsuit and go along with a crowd to pervert justice.

You shall not follow the crowd in doing evil, nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to join together with a crowd in order to pervert justice;

You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice.

Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to turn aside after a multitude to wrest justice:

“ You must not follow a crowd in wrongdoing. Do not testify in a lawsuit and go along with a crowd to pervert justice.

Thou shalt not follow a multitude to[ do] evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest[ judgment]:

“ You must not follow a crowd in doing evil things; in a lawsuit you must not offer testimony that agrees with a crowd so as to pervert justice,

“ You shall not follow a crowd to do evil. You shall not testify in court to side with a multitude to pervert justice.

“ You shall not pervert the justice due to your poor in his lawsuit.Keep far from a false charge, and do not kill the innocent and righteous, for I will not acquit the wicked.

And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Then all the congregation raised a loud cry, and the people wept that night.And all the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The whole congregation said to them,“ Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would that we had died in this wilderness!Why is the Lord bringing us into this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become a prey. Would it not be better for us to go back to Egypt?”And they said to one another,“ Let us choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the people of Israel.And Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothesand said to all the congregation of the people of Israel,“ The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land.If the Lord delights in us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land that flows with milk and honey.Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.”Then all the congregation said to stone them with stones. But the glory of the Lord appeared at the tent of meeting to all the people of Israel.

So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

Nicodemus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them,“ Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?”

because I stood in great fear of the multitude, and the contempt of families terrified me, so that I kept silence, and did not go out of doors—

my son, do not walk in the way with them; hold back your foot from their paths,

“ You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.

You shall not be partial in judgment. You shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not be intimidated by anyone, for the judgment is God’s. And the case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.’

So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying,“ I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.”And all the people answered,“ His blood be on us and on our children!”Then he released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, delivered him to be crucified.

He said,“ I have been very jealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away.”

But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed.So Pilate decided that their demand should be granted.

When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him,“ Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”So Aaron said to them,“ Take off the rings of gold that are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.”So all the people took off the rings of gold that were in their ears and brought them to Aaron.And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf. And they said,“ These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said,“ Tomorrow shall be a feast to the Lord.”

My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.If they say,“ Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood; let us ambush the innocent without reason;

Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of the evil.

When two years had elapsed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. And desiring to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul in prison.

Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous.

and said,“ I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly.Behold, I have two daughters who have not known any man. Let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please. Only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof.”But they said,“ Stand back!” And they said,“ This fellow came to sojourn, and he has become the judge! Now we will deal worse with you than with them.” Then they pressed hard against the man Lot, and drew near to break the door down.

But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep and of the oxen and of the fattened calves and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them. All that was despised and worthless they devoted to destruction.

And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.

King Zedekiah said,“ Behold, he is in your hands, for the king can do nothing against you.”So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the cistern of Malchiah, the king’s son, which was in the court of the guard, letting Jeremiah down by ropes. And there was no water in the cistern, but only mud, and Jeremiah sank in the mud.

who had not consented to their decision and action; and he was looking for the kingdom of God.

“ My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they did to Jeremiah the prophet by casting him into the cistern, and he will die there of hunger, for there is no bread left in the city.”

“ You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or to the fatherless, or take a widow’s garment in pledge,

Then he said to me,“ The guilt of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great. The land is full of blood, and the city full of injustice. For they say,‘ The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see.’

“ Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins?

May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice!

Then the Lord said to Noah,“ Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you are righteous before me in this generation.

And the officials were enraged at Jeremiah, and they beat him and imprisoned him in the house of Jonathan the secretary, for it had been made a prison.

But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party.And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.

But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house.

But Festus, wishing to do the Jews a favor, said to Paul,“ Do you wish to go up to Jerusalem and there be tried on these charges before me?”

So King Zedekiah gave orders, and they committed Jeremiah to the court of the guard. And a loaf of bread was given him daily from the bakers’ street, until all the bread of the city was gone. So Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.
