Six days work may be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the LORD; anyone who does work on the Sabbath day must surely be put to death.The Israelites must keep the Sabbath by observing the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.

They lament,‘ Why don’t you notice when we fast? Why don’t you pay attention when we humble ourselves?’ Look, at the same time you fast, you satisfy your selfish desires, you oppress your workers.

You must not kindle a fire in any of your homes on the Sabbath day.”
