This coat may be the only blanket your neighbor has. How can a person sleep without it? If you do not return it and your neighbor cries out to me for help, then I will hear, for I am merciful.

Give thanks to him who killed the firstborn of Egypt. His faithful love endures forever.He brought Israel out of Egypt. His faithful love endures forever.

He will rescue the poor when they cry to him; he will help the oppressed, who have no one to defend them.

But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.

If you exploit them in any way and they cry out to me, then I will certainly hear their cry.

In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles.

Years passed, and the king of Egypt died. But the Israelites continued to groan under their burden of slavery. They cried out for help, and their cry rose up to God.God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

It will be a sign and a witness that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies is worshiped in the land of Egypt. When the people cry to the Lord for help against those who oppress them, he will send them a savior who will rescue them.
