“ He who sacrifices to any god, other than to the Lord alone, shall be utterly destroyed.

“ Whoever sacrifices to any god other than the Lord must be destroyed.

“ Anyone who sacrifices to any god other than the Lord must be destroyed.

“ Whoever sacrifices to any god, other than the Lord alone, shall be devoted to destruction.

“ Anyone who sacrifices to any god other than the Lord must be destroyed.

“ Whoever sacrifices to any gods, except the LORD alone, is to be set apart for destruction.

“ He who sacrifices to any god, except to the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto Jehovah only, shall be utterly destroyed.

“ Whoever sacrifices to any gods, except the Lord alone, is to be set apart for destruction.

He that sacrificeth unto[ any] god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

“ Whoever sacrifices to a god other than the LORD alone must be utterly destroyed.

“ He who sacrifices to any god, except to Yahweh only, shall be utterly destroyed.

“ If there is found in your midst, in any of your towns which the Lord your God is giving you, a man or a woman who does what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, by violating His covenant,and that person has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or the sun, the moon, or any of the heavenly lights, which I have commanded not to do,and if it is reported to you and you have heard about it, then you shall investigate thoroughly. And if it is true and the report is trustworthy that this detestable thing has been done in Israel,then you are to bring out to your gates that man or woman who has done this evil deed, that is, the man or the woman, and you shall stone them to death.

But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name, a word which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’

“ If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder,and the sign or the wonder comes true, of which he spoke to you, saying,‘ Let’s follow other gods( whom you have not known) and let’s serve them,’you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer of dreams; for the Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.You shall follow the Lord your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him.But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken falsely against the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to drive you from the way in which the Lord your God commanded you to walk. So you shall eliminate the evil from among you.“ If your brother, your mother’s son, or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your friend who is like your own soul, entices you secretly, saying,‘ Let’s go and serve other gods’( whom neither you nor your fathers have known,of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near you, or far from you, from one end of the earth to the other end),you shall not consent to him or listen to him; and your eye shall not pity him, nor shall you spare or conceal him.Instead, you shall most certainly kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people.So you shall stone him to death, because he has attempted to drive you away from the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.Then all Israel will hear about it and be afraid, and will not do such a wicked thing among you again.“ If you hear in one of your cities, which the Lord your God is giving you to live in, anyone saying thatsome worthless men have gone out from among you and have seduced the inhabitants of their city, saying,‘ Let’s go and serve other gods’( whom you have not known),then you shall investigate, search out, and inquire thoroughly. And if it is true and the matter is certain that this abomination has been committed among you,you shall most certainly strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword. Utterly destroy it and all who are in it and its cattle, with the edge of the sword.

When Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from the midst of the congregation and took a spear in his hand,and he went after the man of Israel into the inner room of the tent and pierced both of them, the man of Israel and the woman, through the abdomen. So the plague on the sons of Israel was brought to a halt.

But it will come about that just as all the good words which the Lord your God spoke to you have come upon you, so the Lord will bring upon you all the warnings, until He has eliminated you from this good land which the Lord your God has given you.When you violate the covenant of the Lord your God, which He commanded you, and you go and serve other gods and bow down to them, then the anger of the Lord will burn against you, and you will perish quickly from the good land which He has given you.”

For they invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods.So Israel became followers of Baal of Peor, and the Lord was angry with Israel.And the Lord said to Moses,“ Take all the leaders of the people and execute them in broad daylight before the Lord, so that the fierce anger of the Lord may turn away from Israel.”

The Lord heard the voice of Israel and turned over the Canaanites; then they utterly destroyed them and their cities. And the place was named Hormah.
