倘若奴僕聲明：『我愛我的主人和我的妻子兒女，不願意自由離去。』

倘若奴僕聲明：『我愛我的主人和我的妻子兒女，不願意自由離去。』

倘若奴僕說，『我愛我的主人和我的妻子兒女，我不願意離開他們做自由人。』

如果那奴僕明明說：‘我愛我的主人和我的妻子兒女，不願意自由出去。’

倘若那奴僕明明地說：「我愛我主人、和我妻子兒女，我不要出去自由」，

若僕明言、我愛吾主、及我妻孥、不欲自由、

僕愛厥主、眷戀妻子、不忍舍去、明以告主。

若奴言、我愛我主人與妻子、不欲去而自主、

“ But if the servant declares,‘ I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,’

And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:

But if the servant should declare,‘ I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,’

But if the servant shall plainly say,‘ I love my master, my wife, and my children. I will not go out free;’

“ But suppose your servant says,‘ I will not leave you,’ because he loves you and your family, and he has done well with you.In that case, take an awl and push it through his earlobe into the door. After that, he will be your servant for life. And do the same for your female servants.

Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life.He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

O Lord our God, others have ruled us, but you alone are the one we worship.
