“ If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to serve you for six years. But in the seventh year, he shall go free, without paying anything.

西底家王與耶路撒冷民立約、宣告自由之後、耶和華諭耶利米之言、其約命人各釋僕婢、希伯來男女、使之自由、不以同族猶大人為隸役、牧伯庶民既與此約、悉遵行之、各釋其僕婢、使之自由、不復以為隸役、後乃反悔、令其所釋僕婢、歸而事之、仍為僕婢、故耶和華諭耶利米曰、以色列之上帝耶和華云、昔我導爾祖出埃及、脫於奴隸之室、與之立約曰、如爾昆弟希伯來人、見鬻於爾、事爾六年、既屆七年、當釋之自由、惟爾祖不從我言、不側耳以聽、爾曾轉念、行我所悅、宣告自由於鄰里、立約於我前、在我寄名之室、後乃反悔、褻瀆我名、各使所釋自由之僕婢、歸而事爾、仍為僕婢、故耶和華曰、爾不聽我、宣告自由於昆弟鄰里、今我宣告自由於爾、即縱鋒刃疫癘饑饉於爾、使爾播散於天下萬國、

如宗族中、有匱乏者、自鬻於爾、勿視若奴、當偕爾居、如傭人旅人然、供爾役事、以待禧年、屆期、彼及子女去爾、而歸其家、復得其祖遺業、我導以色列族出埃及、彼為我僕、不得鬻為奴隸、勿治以嚴、宜畏爾之上帝、○異邦之民、來自四方者、可購為僕婢、外人旅於爾中、及其子女生於爾地者、可購為爾有、

每屆七年、當有豁免、

惟以金所購之僕、既受割、則可食、

維時、民與其婦號呼、怨其同宗猶大人、或曰、我及子女人多、當得穀食之以生存、或曰、我質田畝、葡萄園、及第宅、因饑饉以得穀、或曰、我以田畝、及葡萄園、貸金納王之稅、我身如人之身、我子如人之子、今使子女為奴、我中已有數女為婢、欲免此而無力、蓋我之田畝葡萄園、為人所有、

有一婦、先知徒之妻也、呼以利沙曰、爾僕我夫已死、彼素寅畏耶和華、爾所知也、今債主至、欲取我二子為奴、

既無可償、主命鬻其身與妻孥、及其所有以償、

願上帝錫爾天之甘露、地之沃壤、穀酒豐盛、

蓋爾以值見購、故當以身榮上帝焉、

若日已出、斃之則抵罪、盜須償所竊、設無所有、則鬻其身以償、

以掃曰、宜其名雅各、彼欺我者再、昔奪我長子之業、今又奪我之嘏耶、又曰、豈更無嘏、可為我祝乎、
