But suppose they kill someone on purpose. Then take them away from my altar and put them to death.

But if a man willfully attacks another to kill him by cunning, you shall take him from my altar, that he may die.

However, if someone deliberately kills another person, then the slayer must be dragged even from my altar and be put to death.

If a person schemes and willfully acts against his neighbor to murder him, you must take him from my altar to be put to death.

If, however, someone is enraged against his neighbor, so as to kill him in a cunning way, you are to take him even from My altar, to be put to death.

“ But if a man acts with premeditation against his neighbor, to kill him by treachery, you shall take him from My altar, that he may die.

And if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbor, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.

When the news reached Joab, who had conspired with Adonijah though not with Absalom, he fled to the tent of the Lord and took hold of the horns of the altar.King Solomon was told that Joab had fled to the tent of the Lord and was beside the altar. Then Solomon ordered Benaiah son of Jehoiada,“ Go, strike him down!”So Benaiah entered the tent of the Lord and said to Joab,“ The king says,‘ Come out!’” But he answered,“ No, I will die here.” Benaiah reported to the king,“ This is how Joab answered me.”Then the king commanded Benaiah,“ Do as he says. Strike him down and bury him, and so clear me and my whole family of the guilt of the innocent blood that Joab shed.The Lord will repay him for the blood he shed, because without my father David knowing it he attacked two men and killed them with the sword. Both of them— Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army— were better men and more upright than he.May the guilt of their blood rest on the head of Joab and his descendants forever. But on David and his descendants, his house and his throne, may there be the Lord’s peace forever.”So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up and struck down Joab and killed him, and he was buried at his home out in the country.

If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,

But Adonijah, in fear of Solomon, went and took hold of the horns of the altar.Then Solomon was told,“ Adonijah is afraid of King Solomon and is clinging to the horns of the altar. He says,‘ Let King Solomon swear to me today that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.’”

“ Cursed is anyone who kills their neighbor secretly.” Then all the people shall say,“ Amen!”

This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the flesh and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings;

Anyone who shows contempt for the judge or for the priest who stands ministering there to the Lord your God is to be put to death. You must purge the evil from Israel.All the people will hear and be afraid, and will not be contemptuous again.

Now when Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into an inner chamber, as if to speak with him privately. And there, to avenge the blood of his brother Asahel, Joab stabbed him in the stomach, and he died.

So I told you, but you would not listen. You rebelled against the Lord’s command and in your arrogance you marched up into the hill country.

“‘ But anyone who sins defiantly, whether native- born or foreigner, blasphemes the Lord and must be cut off from the people of Israel.Because they have despised the Lord’s word and broken his commands, they must surely be cut off; their guilt remains on them.’”

But if out of hate someone lies in wait, assaults and kills a neighbor, and then flees to one of these cities,the killer shall be sent for by the town elders, be brought back from the city, and be handed over to the avenger of blood to die.Show no pity. You must purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood, so that it may go well with you.

If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.

Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.

Joab said to Amasa,“ How are you, my brother?” Then Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.Amasa was not on his guard against the dagger in Joab’s hand, and Joab plunged it into his belly, and his intestines spilled out on the ground. Without being stabbed again, Amasa died. Then Joab and his brother Abishai pursued Sheba son of Bikri.

Jehoiada the priest ordered the commanders of units of a hundred, who were in charge of the troops:“ Bring her out between the ranks and put to the sword anyone who follows her.” For the priest had said,“ She must not be put to death in the temple of the Lord.”

If anyone with malice aforethought shoves another or throws something at them intentionally so that they dieor if out of enmity one person hits another with their fist so that the other dies, that person is to be put to death; that person is a murderer. The avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death when they meet.
