我的弟兄们，最要紧的是：不可起誓。不可指着天起誓，不可指着地起誓，也不可用任何别的誓言起誓。你们说话，是，就说是；不是，就说不是；免得落在审判之下。

“另外，你们听过那吩咐古人的话：‘不可起假誓。你所起的誓，总要向主偿还。’但是我告诉你们：根本不可起誓。不可指着天起誓，因为天是神的宝座；不可指着地起誓，因为地是神的脚凳；不可用耶路撒冷起誓，因为耶路撒冷是那大君王的城；也不可指着自己的头起誓，因为你不能使一根头发变白或变黑。你们的话语应该如此：是，就说是；不是，就说不是。再多说，就是出于那恶者。

人本来指着比自己更大的起誓；对他们，所起的誓就是了结一切争执的确据；为此，神想要对那些继承应许的人格外表明他的计划是不能更改的，就用所起的誓来保证。

耶稣却沉默不语。大祭司又对他说：“我命令你指着永生的神起誓，告诉我们你是不是基督——神的儿子？”耶稣回答他，说：“你已经说了。不过我告诉你们：将来你们会看见人子坐在全能者的右边，在天上的云彩中来临。”

你要向神献上感谢为祭，又要向至高者还你所许的愿。在患难的日子里，你当呼求我，我必搭救你，而你将荣耀我。”但神对恶人说：“你凭什么讲述我的律例，口中提起我的约呢？

“你们这些瞎眼的领路人有祸了！你们说：‘如果有人指着圣所起誓，算不得什么；但如果有人指着圣所里的金子起誓，就必须遵守。’你们这些又愚拙又瞎眼的人哪，到底哪一样更重要呢？是金子，还是使金子成圣的圣所呢？你们还说：‘如果有人指着祭坛起誓，算不得什么；但如果有人指着祭坛上的祭物起誓，就必须遵守。’你们这些瞎眼的人哪，到底哪一样更重要呢？是祭物，还是使祭物成圣的祭坛呢？所以，指着祭坛起誓的，就是指着祭坛和祭坛上的一切起誓；指着圣所起誓的，就是指着圣所和住在里面的那一位起誓；指着天起誓的，就是指着神的宝座和坐在宝座上的那一位起誓。

免得我饱足了，就否认你，说：“耶和华是谁呢？”又免得我陷入穷困，就去偷窃，以致干犯了我神的名。

我求告神为我的灵魂见证：我没有再往哥林多去，是因为顾惜你们。
