Moses said to the people,“ Don’t be afraid. God has come to test you. He wants you to have respect for him. That will keep you from sinning.”

摩西对百姓说：“不要惧怕；因为神降临是要试验你们，叫你们时常敬畏他，不致犯罪。”

摩西对百姓说：“不要害怕；因为上帝降临是要考验你们，要你们敬畏他，不致犯罪。”

摩西对百姓说：“不用害怕，上帝降临是要试验你们，好让你们时时敬畏祂，不致犯罪。”

摩西回答人民：“不要惧怕，因为神降临是要试验你们，叫你们常常敬畏他，不至犯罪。”

摩西對百姓說：「不要懼怕；因為神降臨是要試驗你們，叫你們時常敬畏他，不致犯罪。」

摩西對百姓說：「不要害怕；因為上帝降臨是要考驗你們，要你們敬畏他，不致犯罪。」

摩西對百姓說：「不用害怕，上帝降臨是要試驗你們，目的是讓你們時時敬畏祂，不致犯罪。」

摩西回答人民：“不要懼怕，因為神降臨是要試驗你們，叫你們常常敬畏他，不至犯罪。”

摩西對人民說：『不要懼怕，因為上帝來臨，是要試驗你們，叫你們時常敬畏他，不至於犯罪。』

摩西曰、勿懼、上帝臨格以試爾、俾爾敬畏、免干厥罪、

摩西曰、勿懼、蓋上帝降臨、試於爾眾、俾爾敬畏、毋蹈愆尤。

摩西謂民曰、毋懼、蓋天主降臨為試爾、又為使爾恆敬畏之、俾爾不至犯罪、

Moses said to the people,“ Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.”

Moses said to the people,“ Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you, that you may not sin.”

“ Don’t be afraid,” Moses answered them,“ for God has come in this way to test you, and so that your fear of him will keep you from sinning!”

Moses responded to the people,“ Don’t be afraid, for God has come to test you, so that you will fear him and will not sin.”

However, Moses said to the people,“ Do not be afraid; for God has come in order to test you, and in order that the fear of Him may remain with you, so that you will not sin.”

And Moses said to the people,“ Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.”

And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before you, that ye sin not.

Moses responded to the people,“ Don’t be afraid, for God has come to test you, so that you will fear Him and will not sin.”

And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

Moses said to the people,“ Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you so that you do not sin.”

Moses said to the people,“ Don’t be afraid, for God has come to test you, and that his fear may be before you, that you won’t sin.”

So you must not listen to what that prophet or dreamer has said. The Lord your God is testing you. He wants to know whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul.

The Lord rules over all. So you must think about him as holy. You must have respect for him. You must fear him.

Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Have respect for the Lord and avoid evil.

Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way. He guided you in the desert for these 40 years. He wanted to take your pride away. He wanted to test you to know what was in your hearts. He wanted to see whether you would obey his commands.

Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him,“ Abraham!”“ Here I am,” Abraham replied.

“ Don’t be afraid,” Samuel replied.“ It’s true that you have done all these evil things. But don’t turn away from the Lord. Serve him with all your heart.

He said to human beings,“ Have respect for the Lord. That will prove you are wise. Avoid evil. That will show you have understanding.”

And now, Israel, what is the Lord your God asking you to do? Honor him. Live exactly as he wants you to live. Love him. Serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

“ Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said.“ Do not harm him. Now I know that you would do anything for God. You have not held back from me your son, your only son.”

Through love and truth sin is paid for. People avoid evil when they have respect for the Lord.

“ So have respect for the Lord. Serve him. Be completely faithful to him. Throw away the gods your people worshiped east of the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord.

Then Moses cried out to the Lord. The Lord showed him a stick. Moses threw it into the water. The water became fit to drink. There the Lord gave a ruling and instruction for the people. And there he tested them.He said,“ I am the Lord your God. Listen carefully to me. Do what is right in my eyes. Pay attention to my commands. Obey all my rules. If you do, I will not send on you any of the sicknesses I sent on the Egyptians. I am the Lord who heals you.”

Then you, your children and their children after them will honor the Lord your God as long as you live. Obey all his rules and commands I’m giving you. If you do, you will enjoy long life.

But there had been governors before me. They had put a heavy load on the people. They had taken a pound of silver from each of them. They had also taken food and wine from them. Their officials had acted like high and mighty rulers over them. But because of my great respect for God, I didn’t act like that.

If you really want to gain knowledge, you must begin by having respect for the Lord. But foolish people hate wisdom and instruction.

Abraham replied,“ I thought,‘ There is no respect for God in this place. They will kill me because of my wife.’

Remember the day you stood at Mount Horeb. The Lord your God was there. He said to me,“ Bring the people to me to hear my words. I want them to learn to have respect for me as long as they live in the land. I want them to teach my words to their children.”

So do not be afraid. I am with you. Do not be terrified. I am your God. I will make you strong and help you. I will hold you safe in my hands. I always do what is right.
