起初，神创造天地。地是空虚混沌，深渊上面一片黑暗；神的灵运行在水面上。

到第七日，神已经完成了造物之工，就在第七日安息了，歇了他所做一切的工。神赐福给第七日，将它分别为圣，因为在这日，神安息了，歇了他所做一切创造的工。

这是我和以色列人之间永远的记号，因为六日之内耶和华造天地，第七日就安息舒畅。”

他又对他们说：“安息日是为人设立的，人不是为安息日设立的。所以，人子也是安息日的主。”

七日的第一日，我们聚会擘饼的时候，保罗因次日要起行，就为他们讲道，直讲到半夜。

地的深处在他手中；山的高峰也属他。海洋属他，是他造的；旱地也是他手造成的。来啊，我们要俯伏敬拜，在造我们的耶和华面前跪拜。因为他是我们的神；我们是他草场的百姓，是他手中的羊。惟愿你们今天听他的话！

神赐福给他们，神对他们说：“要生养众多，遍满这地，治理它；要管理海里的鱼、天空的鸟和地上各样活动的生物。”
