but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.

But the seventh day is a sabbath to honor the Lord your God. Do not do any work on that day. The same command applies to your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and your animals. It also applies to any outsiders who live in your towns.

越至七日、則耶和華爾上帝之安息日也、是日爾與子女僕婢牛驢牲畜、及遠人主於爾家者、皆勿操作、使爾僕婢安息、與爾無異。當憶疇昔、爾在埃及、為人服役、爾之上帝耶和華以大能巨力、救爾出彼、諭爾恪守安息日焉。

六日間宜操作、至七日則安息、雖時當稼穡、亦必安息。

以色列族居野時遇人於安息日採薪、遂攜之至摩西亞倫、及會眾前、若何處置、猶未定擬、故囚於獄。耶和華諭摩西曰、其人必殺毋赦、會眾必於營外、擊之以石。遂攜出營外、以石擊之、遵耶和華諭摩西之命。○

至七日、有適野以斂者、果無所得。耶和華諭摩西曰、斯民不守我誡命、奉我律例、將伊於何底。

歸備芳馨之品、及香膏、當安息日、遵誡而止、

如異邦人、於安息日、或節期攜貨財食物、欲鬻於我、則我必不可購、七年一休息、不耕穫、貸金者不復索取。

毋侮旅人、昔汝為旅於埃及、故悉旅人之情況。六年間、耕耘田畝、獲其所產、越至七年以為閒田、休息不耕、使民之貧者食之、其餘為野獸食可也。橄欖與葡萄園亦然。六日間宜操作、至七日則安息、使爾牛驢、釋其勞苦、僕婢外人、養其精力。

當時我見猶大國人、於安息日、踐醡運麥、使驢負載、攜酒、葡萄、無花果、日用之物、於安息日、進耶路撒冷、亦見人於是日鬻食物、我責之、有推羅人居耶路撒冷、攜魚及日用之物、安息日、鬻於猶大族。我責猶大世職曰、爾奚犯安息日、多行不義。昔我列祖行是、上帝降災、罰及我身、殲滅斯邑、爾又犯之、貽禍於以色列族、尤有甚焉。我於安息日前夕、命閉邑門、待安息日後則啟、亦使我僕侍於門側、不許人於安息日負載入邑。商賈及市物者、宿於邑外、非止一次。我問之曰、爾奚附邑垣而宿、如再行此、我必執爾、自此以後、安息日彼不復至。

告以色列族云、必守我安息日、於爾我間、歷世為徵、則知我乃耶和華、使爾成聖。

爾上帝耶和華特簡之室、為人籲名之所、爾與子女僕婢、及主爾家之利未人、暨賓旅孤寡、俱必欣喜懽忭、於爾上帝耶和華前。昔在埃及、爾為人役、當憶勿忘、宜守此法度。○

七日上帝工竣、乃憩息、是日上帝畢其事而安息、故以七日為聖日、而錫嘏焉。○

傭人貧乏、無論同族及旅於爾家者、爾毋虐取。屆期必給以值、日未沒時給之、蓋其貧乏、希望惟此、若其不得、恐呼籲耶和華、以罪歸爾。不可因子殺父、因父殺子、各任其罪以就戮。賓旅與孤、毋反其正、勿以嫠衣為質。爾之前事、當憶勿忘、爾在埃及嘗為人奴、爾上帝耶和華救爾於彼、故我諭爾行此。爾穫田所產、有遺一束、毋反以取、必留於賓旅孤寡、則爾所為、爾上帝耶和華必錫純嘏。既撲橄欖樹、毋庸復撲、摘葡萄果、毋得再摘、所遺者、必留於賓旅孤寡、
