but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.

But the seventh day is a sabbath to honor the Lord your God. Do not do any work on that day. The same command applies to your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and your animals. It also applies to any outsiders who live in your towns.

但第七日是向耶和华—你的上帝当守的安息日。这一日，你和你的儿女、仆婢、牛、驴、牲畜，以及你城里寄居的客旅，都不可做任何的工，使你的仆婢可以和你一样休息。你要记念你在埃及地作过奴仆，耶和华—你的上帝用大能的手和伸出来的膀臂领你从那里出来。因此，耶和华—你的上帝吩咐你守安息日。

“六日你要做工，第七日要安息，即使在耕种或收割的时候也要安息。

以色列人还在旷野的时候，发现有一个人在安息日捡柴。发现他捡柴的人把他带到摩西、亚伦以及全会众那里。他们把他收押在监里，因为还不知道要怎样惩罚他。耶和华吩咐摩西说：“这人应当处死；全会众要在营外用石头打死他。”于是全会众把他带到营外，用石头打死他，是照耶和华所吩咐摩西的。

第七天，百姓中有人出去收，什么也找不着。耶和华对摩西说：“你们不肯遵守我的诫令和教导，要到几时呢？

她们就回去，预备了香料香膏。在安息日，她们遵照诫命安息了。

这地的民族若在安息日，或什么圣日，带了货物或粮食来卖，我们必不买。每逢第七年必不耕种，凡欠我们债的必不追讨。

“不可欺压寄居的，因为你们在埃及地作过寄居的，知道寄居者的心情。”“六年你要耕种田地，收集地的出产。只是第七年你要让地歇息，不耕不种，使你百姓中的贫穷人有吃的；他们吃剩的，野兽可以吃。你的葡萄园和橄榄园也要照样办理。“六日你要做工，第七日要安息，使牛、驴可以歇息，也让你使女的儿子和寄居的可以恢复精力。

那些日子，我在犹大见有人在安息日踹榨酒池，搬运禾捆驮在驴上，又把酒、葡萄、无花果和各样的担子在安息日扛入耶路撒冷，我就在他们卖食物的那日警戒他们。有一些住在城里的推罗人也把鱼和各样货物运进来，甚至在耶路撒冷，在安息日卖给犹大人。我就斥责犹大的贵族，对他们说：“你们怎么会做这恶事干犯安息日呢！你们祖先岂不是这样做，以致我们的上帝使一切灾祸临到我们和这城吗？你们竟干犯安息日，使愤怒越发临到以色列！”安息日前一日黄昏的时候，我吩咐人把耶路撒冷城门锁上；我又吩咐，不过安息日不准开门。我也派几个仆人在城门口站岗，免得有人在安息日挑担子进城。于是商人和贩卖各样货物的人，有一两次在耶路撒冷城外过夜。我警告他们说：“你们为何在城墙前过夜呢？若再这样，我必下手办你们。”从此以后，他们在安息日就不再来了。

“你要吩咐以色列人说：‘你们务要守我的安息日，因为这是你我之间世世代代的记号，叫你们知道我是耶和华，是使你们分别为圣的。

你和你的儿女、仆婢，以及住在你城里的利未人、在你中间寄居的和孤儿寡妇，都要在那里，耶和华—你上帝选择作为他名居所的地方，在耶和华—你上帝面前欢乐。你要记得你在埃及作过奴仆，也要谨守遵行这些律例。”

到第七日，上帝已经完成了造物之工，就在第七日安息了，歇了他所做一切的工。上帝赐福给第七日，将它分别为圣，因为在这日，上帝安息了，歇了他所做一切创造的工。

“困苦贫穷的雇工，无论是你的弟兄，或是住在你境内，在你城里寄居的，你都不可欺负他。要当日给他工钱，不可等到日落，因为他困苦，需要靠工钱过活，免得他因你的缘故求告耶和华，罪就归于你了。“不可因儿子处死父亲，也不可因父亲处死儿子；各人要因自己的罪被处死。“不可对寄居的和孤儿屈枉正直，也不可拿寡妇的衣服作抵押。要记得你曾在埃及作过奴仆，耶和华—你的上帝从那里救赎了你，所以我吩咐你遵行这事。“你在田间收割庄稼，若忘了一捆在田间，就不要再回去拿，要留给寄居的、孤儿和寡妇；好让耶和华—你的上帝在你手里所做的一切，赐福给你。你打了橄榄树，枝上剩下的不可再打，要留给寄居的、孤儿和寡妇。你摘葡萄园的葡萄，掉落的不可拾取，要留给寄居的、孤儿和寡妇。你要记得你曾在埃及地作过奴仆，所以我吩咐你遵行这事。
