“ I have been with you for twenty years now. Your sheep and goats have not miscarried, nor have I eaten rams from your flocks.I did not bring you animals torn by wild beasts; I bore the loss myself. And you demanded payment from me for whatever was stolen by day or night.This was my situation: The heat consumed me in the daytime and the cold at night, and sleep fled from my eyes.

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. But I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go.Then say to Pharaoh,‘ This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son,and I told you,“ Let my son go, so he may worship me.” But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.’”At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses and was about to kill him.But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son’s foreskin and touched Moses’ feet with it.“ Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me,” she said.

But the rich should take pride in their humiliation— since they will pass away like a wild flower.
