因著信，摩西長大了以後，就拒絕被稱為法老女兒的兒子。他寧願選擇和神的子民一同受苦，也不肯享受罪惡中暫時的快樂。在他看來，為著基督受的凌辱，比埃及的財物更寶貴，因為他注視將來的賞賜。

於是，他們指派督工管轄他們，加重他們的重擔苦害他們，他們為法老建造兩座貯貨城，就是比東和蘭塞。

你們所有勞苦擔重擔的人哪，到我這裡來吧！我必使你們得安息。

法老的督工責打他們派定的以色列人的首領，說：“你們昨天今天為甚麼沒有做完指定要你們做的磚，像往日一樣呢？”

我所揀選的禁食不是這樣嗎？不是要鬆開兇惡的鎖鍊，解開軛上的繩索，使被壓迫的獲得自由，折斷所有的軛嗎？

耶和華說：“我的子民在埃及所受的痛苦，我實在看見了；他們因受督工的轄制所發的呼聲，我也聽見了；他們的痛苦，我是知道的。

摩西學盡了埃及人的一切學問，說話行事都有能力。“到了四十歲，他心中起了一個念頭，要去看望自己的同胞以色列人。當他看見有一個人受欺負，就去護衛，為那受屈的抱不平，打死了那個埃及人。

你們要把更重的工作加在這些人的身上，好使他們專心作工，不聽謊言。”

“主的靈在我身上，因為他膏我去傳福音給貧窮的人，差遣我去宣告被擄的得釋放，瞎眼的得看見，受壓制的得自由，
