摩西長大成人後，憑信心拒絕做法老之女的兒子，

為要救贖一切受律法約束的人，使我們成為祂的兒女。

最後不得已才丟棄他。法老的女兒救了他，收為養子。「摩西學會了埃及人一切的學問，成為一個說話辦事很有能力的人。

你們看，父上帝何等愛我們，稱我們為祂的兒女！我們也實在是祂的兒女，世人之所以不認識我們，是因為他們不認識父上帝。

接著又說：「你現在懷了孕，將來會生一個男孩，你要給他取名叫以實瑪利，因為耶和華已經聽見你痛苦的哀聲。

使她懷孕。她後來生了一個兒子，給孩子取名叫撒母耳，因為她說：「他是我向耶和華求來的。」

她將生一個兒子，你要給祂取名叫耶穌，因為祂要把自己的子民從罪惡中救出來。」

亞當又與妻子夏娃同房，夏娃生了一個兒子，取名叫塞特，因為她說：「上帝賜我另一個兒子來代替亞伯，因為該隱殺了他。」

「我來之前，你在埃及生的兩個兒子以法蓮和瑪拿西都算我的，他們可以像呂便和西緬一樣承受我的產業。
