然後，他拿起約書來，念給百姓聽。他們說：「耶和華所吩咐的一切，我們都必遵行，也必聽從。」

摩西下山，向百姓陳述耶和華一切的命令和典章。眾百姓齊聲說：「耶和華所吩咐的一切，我們都必遵行。」

他們對摩西說：「請你向我們說話，我們必聽；不要讓神向我們說話，免得我們死亡。」

你今日宣認耶和華為你的神，承諾遵行他的道，謹守他的律例、誡命、典章，聽從他的話。耶和華今日照他所應許你的，也認你為他寶貴的子民，叫你謹守他的一切誡命，要使你得稱讚、美名、尊榮，超乎他所造的萬國之上，並且照他所應許的，使你歸耶和華－你的神為神聖的子民。」

百姓對約書亞說：「我們必事奉耶和華－我們的神，聽從他的話。」

都隨從他們貴族的弟兄發咒起誓，要遵行神藉他僕人摩西所賜的律法，謹守遵行耶和華－我們主的一切誡命、典章、律例。

求你近前去，聽耶和華－我們神所要說的一切話，將耶和華－我們神對你說的話都傳給我們，我們就聽從遵行。』「你們對我說的話，耶和華都聽見了。耶和華對我說：『這百姓對你說的話，我聽見了；他們所說的都對。惟願他們存這樣的心敬畏我，常遵守我一切的誡命，使他們和他們的子孫永遠得福。
