Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain and said,“ This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel:

永恆主見摩西過來要看，上帝從刺叢中呼叫他說：『摩西，摩西』；摩西說：『我在這裏呢。』

這個人就是跟那在野地裏公會中和西乃山上對他說話的天使在一起、又跟我們的祖宗在一起而作中間人的；他接受了活活的神諭要傳給我們。

於是人民遠遠地站着；摩西就挨近暗霧那裏，暗霧就是上帝之所在。

摩西上山，有雲彩把山遮蓋着。永恆主的榮耀停於西乃山，那雲彩把山遮蓋了六天；第七天永恆主從雲中呼召摩西。永恆主之榮耀的形狀、在以色列人眼前、就像燒燬東西的火在山頂上。摩西進入雲中上了山；摩西在山上四十晝又四十夜。

那時我站在永恆主與你們之間，要將永恆主的話告訴你們；你們因為懼怕那火，沒有上山。永恆主說：『「我永恆主乃是你的上帝、曾把你從埃及地從為奴之家領出來的。『「我以外，你不可有別的神。『「不可為你自己造雕像，也不可造上天、下地、及地底下水中任何物件的形像。不可跪拜它們，也不可事奉它們，因為我永恆主你的上帝是忌邪的上帝；恨我的、我必察罰他們的罪愆、從父親到兒子，到三四代。愛我守我誡命的、我必堅心愛他們、直到千代。『「不可妄稱永恆主你的上帝的名，因為妄稱永恆主之名的、永恆主必不以他為無罪。『「要守安息日，分別為聖，照永恆主你的上帝所吩咐你的。六日要勞碌，作你一切的工。但第七日是屬永恆主你的上帝的安息日；這一日、你跟你兒子和女兒、你奴僕和使女、你的牛、驢、和一切牲口、以及你城內的寄居者，一切的工都不可作，好叫你的奴僕和使女可以和你一樣歇息。你要記得你在埃及地也作過奴僕；永恆主你的上帝用大力的手和伸出的膀臂、將你從那裏領出來；故此永恆主你的上帝吩咐你要遵守安息日的制度。『「要孝敬你的父親和母親，照永恆主你的上帝所吩咐你的，使你得享長壽，並使你在永恆主你的上帝所賜給你的土地、平安順遂。『「不可殺人。『「不可行姦淫。『「不可偷竊。『「不可作虛謊的見證陷害你的鄰舍。『「不可貪愛你鄰舍的妻子，不可貪慕你鄰舍的房屋、田地、奴僕、使女、牛、驢、和你鄰舍的任何東西。」『這些話、永恆主在山上、從火中、密雲中、暗霧中、大聲對你們全體大眾講過，並沒有加添；他把這些話寫在兩塊石版上，交給了我。你們聽見有聲音從黑暗中發出、那時山上有火燒着，你們就走近我來，你們族派中所有的首領和你們的長老都來，說：「看哪，永恆主我們的上帝將他的榮光和他的至大向我們顯現，我們又聽見他的聲音從火中發出；今日我們居然見上帝和人說話，而人還活着。現在這大火將要燒滅我們，我們又何必冒死呢？我們若再聽見永恆主我們的上帝的聲音，就會死的。因為血肉之人誰曾聽見過永活的上帝從火中說話的聲音，像我們聽見了，還能活着呢？如今只求你，你走近前去，聽永恆主我們的上帝所要說的一切話，然後你、將永恆主我們的上帝所對你說的一切話、對我們說，我們就聽從、就遵行。」『你們對我說話的時候、你們說話的話意、永恆主都聽出來了；永恆主就對我說：「這人民對你說話、其話意我都聽出來了；他們所說的、都說得對。惟願他們常存着這樣的心，日日不斷地敬畏我，守我一切的誡命，使他們和他們的子孫永遠平安順遂。你去對他們說：『你們回家去吧。』至於你呢、你要侍立在我左右；我要將你所應當教訓他們的一切誡命、律例、典章、都對你講說，使他們在我所賜給他們為業的地上去遵行。」

明日早晨你要豫備好了；你早晨要上西乃山；在山頂上那裏晉見我。
