你必疲乏不堪；不但你自己，連與你在一起的人民也必疲乏不堪，因為這事太重，你不能獨自一人去作。

他們說“求你為我們立一個王治理我們”這件事，使撒母耳很不高興，他就禱告耶和華。耶和華對撒母耳說：“眾民對你所說的一切，你只管聽從，因為他們不是厭棄你，而是厭棄我，不要我作他們的王。

耶和華對撒母耳說：“你只管聽從他們的話，為他們立一個王。”於是撒母耳對以色列人說：“你們各人回自己的城去吧。”

眾人卻說：“你不可以出戰。因為如果我們逃跑，他們不會把我們放在心上，即使我們死了一半，他們也不會把我們放在心上。因為你一個人抵得上我們一萬人；所以你最好還是留在城裡，隨時支援我們。”

可是為了你們，我更需要活在世上。我既然這樣深信，就知道還要活下去，並且要繼續和你們大家在一起，使你們在信心上有長進，有喜樂，

耶和華與亞伯拉罕說完了話，就走了；亞伯拉罕也回到自己的地方去了。
