你和这些百姓都会疲惫不堪，你一个人无法担当如此繁重的工作。

撒母耳听到他们要求立一个王治理他们，心中不悦，就向耶和华祷告。耶和华对撒母耳说：“你照他们所说的去做吧，因为他们不是拒绝你，而是拒绝我做他们的王。

耶和华对撒母耳说：“照他们说的去为他们立一个王吧。”于是，撒母耳对以色列人说：“你们各人回自己的城去吧。”

他们却说：“请我王不要出战。因为如果我们败逃，敌方不会放在心上；即使我们一半人阵亡，敌方也不会放在心上。你一人比我们一万人更宝贵。你还是留在城中支援我们吧。”

可是为了你们，我应该活在世上。我既然对此深信不疑，就知道自己仍要活下去，继续跟你们在一起，好使你们在信仰上又长进又充满喜乐。

耶和华跟亚伯拉罕说完话便离开了，亚伯拉罕也回家去了。

就对亚伯拉罕说：“赶走这婢女和她的儿子，因为这婢女的儿子不可和我的儿子以撒一同承受产业。”亚伯拉罕因儿子以实玛利的事非常烦恼。上帝对亚伯拉罕说：“你不要再为这孩子和你的婢女烦恼，只管照撒拉的意思去做，因为以撒生的才可算为你的后代。

洗鲁雅的儿子亚比筛赶来救驾，杀死了非利士巨人。这事以后，大卫的部下向他起誓说：“你绝不可再跟我们一起出战，免得以色列的灯熄灭。”

保罗和巴拿巴为这件事与他们激烈地辩论，最后大家决定派保罗、巴拿巴和几个当地的信徒上耶路撒冷去跟使徒和长老讨论这件事。

要知道，耶和华已将安息日赐给你们，所以第六天我会赐你们双倍的食物。第七天，人人都要留在营中，不许外出。”
