You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone.

You will just get worn out. And so will these people who come to you. There’s too much work for you. You can’t possibly handle it by yourself.

You and the people with you will certainly wear yourselves out, for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to do it alone.

But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek speaking believers complained about the Hebrew speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said,“ We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program.And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility.Then we apostles can spend our time in prayer and teaching the word.”

I will gladly spend myself and all I have for you, even though it seems that the more I love you, the less you love me.

We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God’s Good News but our own lives, too.Don’t you remember, dear brothers and sisters, how hard we worked among you? Night and day we toiled to earn a living so that we would not be a burden to any of you as we preached God’s Good News to you.

For he risked his life for the work of Christ, and he was at the point of death while doing for me what you couldn’t do from far away.

Moses continued,“ At that time I told you,‘ You are too great a burden for me to carry all by myself.The Lord your God has increased your population, making you as numerous as the stars!And may the Lord, the God of your ancestors, multiply you a thousand times more and bless you as he promised!But you are such a heavy load to carry! How can I deal with all your problems and bickering?
