Now Jethro, the priest of Midian and father-in-law of Moses, heard of everything God had done for Moses and for his people Israel, and how the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt.

Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came and drew water and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.

Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples.You with your arm redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah

Who can utter the mighty deeds of the Lord, or declare all his praise?

“ This Moses, whom they rejected, saying,‘ Who made you a ruler and a judge?’— this man God sent as both ruler and redeemer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.This man led them out, performing wonders and signs in Egypt and at the Red Sea and in the wilderness for forty years.

So he brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with singing.

Then he remembered the days of old, of Moses and his people. Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put in the midst of them his Holy Spirit,who caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, who divided the waters before them to make for himself an everlasting name,who led them through the depths? Like a horse in the desert, they did not stumble.

He made a path for his anger; he did not spare them from death, but gave their lives over to the plague.He struck down every firstborn in Egypt, the firstfruits of their strength in the tents of Ham.Then he led out his people like sheep and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.He led them in safety, so that they were not afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their strength.Then he brought out Israel with silver and gold, and there was none among his tribes who stumbled.Egypt was glad when they departed, for dread of them had fallen upon it.He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light by night.They asked, and he brought quail, and gave them bread from heaven in abundance.He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it flowed through the desert like a river.

to him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, for his steadfast love endures forever;and brought Israel out from among them, for his steadfast love endures forever;with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, for his steadfast love endures forever;to him who divided the Red Sea in two, for his steadfast love endures forever;and made Israel pass through the midst of it, for his steadfast love endures forever;but overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea, for his steadfast love endures forever;to him who led his people through the wilderness, for his steadfast love endures forever;

O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us, what deeds you performed in their days, in the days of old:

For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you devoted to destruction.

We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.

They said to him,“ From a very distant country your servants have come, because of the name of the Lord your God. For we have heard a report of him, and all that he did in Egypt,

My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue shall take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying,‘ Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”

They only were hearing it said,“ He who used to persecute us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”And they glorified God because of me.

Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make known his mighty power.He rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry, and he led them through the deep as through a desert.So he saved them from the hand of the foe and redeemed them from the power of the enemy.And the waters covered their adversaries; not one of them was left.

And when they arrived and gathered the church together, they declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.

And Moses was content to dwell with the man, and he gave Moses his daughter Zipporah.

And Moses said to Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law,“ We are setting out for the place of which the Lord said,‘ I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will do good to you, for the Lord has promised good to Israel.”

And the Lord said to Moses,“ See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet.You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall tell Pharaoh to let the people of Israel go out of his land.But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt,Pharaoh will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and bring my hosts, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great acts of judgment.The Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring out the people of Israel from among them.”Moses and Aaron did so; they did just as the Lord commanded them.Now Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,“ When Pharaoh says to you,‘ Prove yourselves by working a miracle,’ then you shall say to Aaron,‘ Take your staff and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.’”So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent.Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts.For each man cast down his staff, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.Still Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Pharaoh’s heart is hardened; he refuses to let the people go.Go to Pharaoh in the morning, as he is going out to the water. Stand on the bank of the Nile to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that turned into a serpent.

Now Heber the Kenite had separated from the Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in Zaanannim, which is near Kedesh.

For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience— by word and deed,

After greeting them, he related one by one the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.And when they heard it, they glorified God. And they said to him,“ You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed. They are all zealous for the law,

Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,

When they came home to their father Reuel, he said,“ How is it that you have come home so soon today?”

And all the assembly fell silent, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul as they related what signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles.

Moses went back to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him,“ Please let me go back to my brothers in Egypt to see whether they are still alive.” And Jethro said to Moses,“ Go in peace.”

And this city shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth who shall hear of all the good that I do for them. They shall fear and tremble because of all the good and all the prosperity I provide for it.

and performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh and all his servants and all the people of his land, for you knew that they acted arrogantly against our fathers. And you made a name for yourself, as it is to this day.And you divided the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on dry land, and you cast their pursuers into the depths, as a stone into mighty waters.
