Moses named the place Massah( which means“ test”) and Meribah( which means“ arguing”) because the people of Israel argued with Moses and tested the Lord by saying,“ Is the Lord here with us or not?”

你在患难中呼求，我搭救了你，我在雷霆的隐秘处回应了你，在米利巴的水边察验了你。细拉

“你们不可硬着心，像在米利巴，在旷野中玛撒的日子一样；

就不可硬着你们的心，如同在那悖逆的时候，也像在那旷野试探的日子。在那里，你们的祖先考验我、试探我，并且看了我的作为四十年之久。

“这个人就是摩西，他曾告诉以色列子民：‘神将要从你们兄弟中给你们兴起一位先知，像兴起我一样。’这个人曾在旷野的会众当中，与那在西奈山对他讲话的天使在一起，又和我们的祖先在一起。他接受了生命的话语，把它传给了我们。我们的祖先不肯顺从，反而弃绝了他，甚至在心里转回埃及去，

道成了肉身，居住在我们中间。我们看到了他的荣耀，正是从父而来的独生子的荣耀，充满了恩典和真理。

锡安的居民哪，你们当高声欢呼，因为以色列的圣者在你们当中是至大的！”
