Harden not your heart, as at Meribah, As in the day of Massah in the wilderness;

And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth- hattaavah, ye provoked Jehovah to wrath.

Wherefore the people strove with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why strive ye with me? Wherefore do ye tempt Jehovah?

Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, Like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness,Where your fathers tried me by proving me, And saw my works forty years.

This is that Moses, who said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall God raise up unto you from among your brethren, like unto me.This is he that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel that spake to him in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received living oracles to give unto us:to whom our fathers would not be obedient, but thrust him from them, and turned back in their hearts unto Egypt,

Aaron shall be gathered unto his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah.

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us( and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.

And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we know that Jehovah is in the midst of us, because ye have not committed this trespass against Jehovah: now have ye delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of Jehovah.

And he said, If now I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, let the Lord, I pray thee, go in the midst of us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.

Cry aloud and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion; for great in the midst of thee is the Holy One of Israel.

The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet they lean upon Jehovah, and say, Is not Jehovah in the midst of us? no evil shall come upon us.

Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall come upon them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us?
