When the hands of Moses became heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other, and so his hands were steady until the sun went down.

When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up— one on one side, one on the other— so that his hands remained steady till sunset.

When Moses’ arms got tired, Aaron and Hur got a stone and put it under him. Then he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held up his hands. Aaron was on one side, and Hur was on the other. Moses’ hands remained steady until sunset.

for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

as you also join in helping us by prayer, so that many people may give thanks to God on our behalf for the gracious gift given to us through the help of many.

Use your spear and lance against those who chase me! Assure me with these words:“ I am your deliverer!”

Then he came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter,“ Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you stay awake for one hour?Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”He went away again and prayed the same thing.When he came again he found them sleeping; they could not keep their eyes open. And they did not know what to tell him.

Therefore, strengthen your listless hands and your weak knees,

Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He said to Peter,“ So, couldn’t you stay awake with me for one hour?Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”He went away a second time and prayed,“ My Father, if this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will must be done.”He came again and found them sleeping; they could not keep their eyes open.So leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same thing once more.Then he came to the disciples and said to them,“ Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is approaching, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

But he must ask in faith without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed around by the wind.

With every prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit, and to this end be alert, with all perseverance and requests for all the saints.

Be devoted to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving.
