你也賜下你良善的靈教訓他們；未嘗不賜嗎哪使他們糊口，並賜水解他們的渴。在曠野四十年，你養育他們，他們就一無所缺：衣服沒有穿破，腳也沒有腫。

你也要記念耶和華－你的神在曠野引導你這四十年，是要苦煉你，試驗你，要知道你心內如何，肯守他的誡命不肯。他苦煉你，任你飢餓，將你和你列祖所不認識的嗎哪賜給你吃，使你知道，人活着不是單靠食物，乃是靠耶和華口裏所出的一切話。

如今我將這地擺在你們面前；你們要進去得這地，就是耶和華向你們列祖亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓應許賜給他們和他們後裔為業之地。」

摩西從摩押平原登尼波山，上了那與耶利哥相對的毗斯迦山頂。耶和華把基列全地直到但，拿弗他利全地，以法蓮、瑪拿西的地，猶大全地直到西海，南地和棕樹城耶利哥的平原，直到瑣珥，都指給他看。耶和華對他說：「這就是我向亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓應許之地，說：『我必將這地賜給你的後裔。』現在我使你眼睛看見了，你卻不得過到那裏去。」

他們又說：「你行甚麼神蹟，叫我們看見就信你；你到底做甚麼事呢？我們的祖宗在曠野吃過嗎哪，如經上寫着說：『他從天上賜下糧來給他們吃。』」耶穌說：「我實實在在地告訴你們，那從天上來的糧不是摩西賜給你們的，乃是我父將天上來的真糧賜給你們。因為神的糧就是那從天上降下來、賜生命給世界的。」他們說：「主啊，常將這糧賜給我們！」耶穌說：「我就是生命的糧。到我這裏來的，必定不餓；信我的，永遠不渴。只是我對你們說過，你們已經看見我，還是不信。凡父所賜給我的人必到我這裏來；到我這裏來的，我總不丟棄他。因為我從天上降下來，不是要按自己的意思行，乃是要按那差我來者的意思行。差我來者的意思就是：他所賜給我的，叫我一個也不失落，在末日卻叫他復活。因為我父的意思是叫一切見子而信的人得永生，並且在末日我要叫他復活。」猶太人因為耶穌說「我是從天上降下來的糧」，就私下議論他，說：「這不是約瑟的兒子耶穌嗎？他的父母我們豈不認得嗎？他如今怎麼說『我是從天上降下來的』呢？」耶穌回答說：「你們不要大家議論。若不是差我來的父吸引人，就沒有能到我這裏來的；到我這裏來的，在末日我要叫他復活。在先知書上寫着說：『他們都要蒙神的教訓。』凡聽見父之教訓又學習的，就到我這裏來。這不是說有人看見過父，惟獨從神來的，他看見過父。我實實在在地告訴你們，信的人有永生。我就是生命的糧。你們的祖宗在曠野吃過嗎哪，還是死了。這是從天上降下來的糧，叫人吃了就不死。我是從天上降下來生命的糧；人若吃這糧，就必永遠活着。我所要賜的糧就是我的肉，為世人之生命所賜的。」因此，猶太人彼此爭論說：「這個人怎能把他的肉給我們吃呢？」耶穌說：「我實實在在地告訴你們，你們若不吃人子的肉，不喝人子的血，就沒有生命在你們裏面。吃我肉、喝我血的人就有永生，在末日我要叫他復活。我的肉真是可吃的，我的血真是可喝的。吃我肉、喝我血的人常在我裏面，我也常在他裏面。永活的父怎樣差我來，我又因父活着；照樣，吃我肉的人也要因我活着。這就是從天上降下來的糧。吃這糧的人就永遠活着，不像你們的祖宗吃過嗎哪還是死了。」

降嗎哪，像雨給他們吃，將天上的糧食賜給他們。各人吃大能者的食物；他賜下糧食，使他們飽足。

從亞巴琳山起行，安營在摩押平原－約旦河邊、耶利哥對面。他們在摩押平原沿約旦河邊安營，從伯‧耶施末直到亞伯‧什亭。耶和華在摩押平原－約旦河邊、耶利哥對面曉諭摩西說：

從天上賜下糧食充他們的飢，從磐石使水流出解他們的渴，又吩咐他們進去得你起誓應許賜給他們的地。

以色列人出了埃及地後四十年，五月初一日，祭司亞倫遵着耶和華的吩咐上何珥山，就死在那裏。
