以色列族見而弗識、相語曰、此何物歟。摩西曰、此耶和華予爾之餅。

耶和華諭摩西曰、我必自天雨餅、以贍汝用、使民出外、日斂所需、我行是以試民、果遵我例否。

當斯時也、使爾饑餒、以嗎嗱飼爾、斯嗎嗱爾祖與爾未識、使爾知人得生、不惟餅、惟耶和華所命。

以色列族稱所得者曰嗎嗱、狀如莞荽仁、而色白、味甘如蜜餅。

食靈食、飲靈飲、

既食土所產之穀、次日嗎嗱不降、以色列族不復得之、是年所食者、則迦南土產。○

昔我祖在野食嗎嗱、經云、以天之餅予之食、是也、耶穌曰、我誠告爾、摩西不以天之餅予爾、我父以天之真餅予爾、

此天降之餅、非如爾祖食嗎嗱而死、食此餅者永生也、

民饑則餅降自天、民渴則水湧於磐、昔爾誓以土地錫民、後復令民入而居之。

爾來食我所炊之餅、飲我所釀之酒、

讟上帝及摩西曰、奚導我出埃及使死於野、在此無餅無水、所食不能果腹、我心厭之、

爾祖食嗎嗱於野、卒亦死、

以爾聖神訓迪、錫嗎嗱以充其飢、出清泉以止其渴。

蓋此物、皆異邦人所求、天父知爾需之、

摩西告亞倫曰、嗎嗱六升藏於器中、置之耶和華前、歷代存焉。

居於曠野、以爾祖未識之嗎嗱飼爾、使爾自卑、以試爾心、終有裨益。

聖神示諸會之言宜傾耳以聽、如有勝敵者、我將以所藏嗎嗱賜之食、頒以白玉、上鐫新名、惟受者識之、外此則無識之者、

有炷香金鼎、嵌金約匱、內藏嗎嗱、盛以金壺、與亞倫萌芽杖、約碑二、
