永恆主對摩西說：『看吧，我要從天上將食物降給你們；人民可以出去，每天撿每天的分兒，我好試驗他們遵不遵行我的法度。

他使你受苦，任你饑餓，將你和你列祖所不認識的嗎哪賜給你喫，使你知道人活着、不是單靠着食物，人活着、乃是靠着永恆主口裏所出的一切話。

這東西、以色列家給起名叫「嗎哪」，就像芫荽子，白色；它的滋味如同攙蜜的薄餅。

都喫了一樣的靈食，

他們喫了那地的農產物，第二天嗎哪就停止了；以色列人不再有嗎哪；那一年他們就喫了迦南地的出產。

我們的祖宗在野地裏喫過嗎哪；照所記載的：「上帝將從天上來的餅給他們喫。」』於是耶穌對他們說：『我實實在在地告訴你們，不是摩西將那從天上來的餅給了你們的，乃是我父將這從天上來的真的餅給你們。

這就是從天上降下來的餅，不是像列祖喫過了、還死了那樣的；嚼這餅的必永遠活着。』

你從天上將糧食賜給他們、去給他們充饑，又使水從磐石間流出來、給他們解渴；你又吩咐他們要進來取得這地、就是你曾舉手起誓給他們的。

『你們來，喫我的飯，喝我調和的酒。

就說壞話攻擊上帝和摩西說：『你們為甚麼把我們從埃及領上來，讓我們死在這曠野呢？這裏沒有食物、沒有水；這淡薄的食物，我們的胃口都憎厭了。』

你們的祖宗在野地裏喫過嗎哪，還是死了。

你也賜下你至善的靈來訓誨他們，並不留住你的嗎哪、而使他們的口沒的喫，你又賜水給他們解渴。

因為這一切、世上的外國人都切求着；你們的父實知道你們需用這一切的。

摩西對亞倫說：『你拿一個罐子，裏面盛着一俄梅珥嗎哪，存放在永恆主面前，好留給你們的後代。』

在曠野、他將你列祖所不認識的嗎哪賜給你喫，都是要使你受苦，要試驗你，使你終久得好處；

有耳的應當聽聖靈向眾教會所說的話！得勝的、我必將隱藏的嗎哪賜給他，也必賜給他一塊白石子；石子上寫着新的名，除了領受者之外、沒有人認識的。」

有金香壇和四面包金的約櫃；櫃裏有盛嗎哪的金罐和亞倫發過芽的杖、和兩塊約版；
