The enemy boasted,‘ I will pursue, I will overtake them. I will divide the spoils; I will gorge myself on them. I will draw my sword and my hand will destroy them.’

我要使祂與偉人同享尊榮，跟強者同分戰利品，因為祂奉獻了自己的生命。祂被列在罪犯中，卻擔當了許多人的罪，又為罪人代求。」

『莫非他們在搜索、瓜分戰利品？也許每人得到一兩個少女，西西拉也會分得從俘虜身上奪來的繡花彩巾。』

但是，來了一個比他更強壯的人，把他制伏後，奪去他所依靠的武裝，並把他搶來的東西分給了人。

「便雅憫是匹貪婪的狼，早晨吞吃獵物，晚上瓜分戰利品。」

這些國家的神明中有哪個曾從我手中救自己的國家呢？難道耶和華能從我手中救耶路撒冷嗎？』」

他說，『我的臣僕都要做藩王！迦勒挪豈不是和迦基米施一樣嗎？哈馬豈不是和亞珥拔一樣嗎？撒瑪利亞豈不是和大馬士革一樣嗎？它們不是都被我征服了嗎？這些國家都在我的手中，他們雕刻的偶像不勝過耶路撒冷和撒瑪利亞的偶像嗎？我怎樣毀滅撒瑪利亞和它的偶像，也必怎樣毀滅耶路撒冷和它的偶像。』」主完成在錫安山和耶路撒冷要做的事後，必懲罰心裡狂妄、眼目高傲的亞述王。因為亞述王說：「我靠自己的力量和智慧成就了此事，因為我很聰明。我廢除列國的疆界，擄掠他們的財物，像勇士一樣征服他們的君王。

耶洗別就派人去告訴以利亞，說：「明天這個時候，我若不使你像那些人一樣喪命，願神明重重地懲罰我。」

便·哈達又派人去對亞哈說：「若撒瑪利亞的塵土夠我的士兵每人抓一把，願神明重重地懲罰我。」

耶和華使法老的心剛硬，法老就追趕毫無懼色地離開埃及的以色列人。埃及大軍的戰車騎兵傾巢而出，沿著海邊追趕，在巴力·洗分對面的比·哈希錄附近追上了正在那裡安營的以色列人。
