Then Moses cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became fit to drink. There the Lord issued a ruling and instruction for them and put them to the test.

And he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a log, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the Lord made for them a statute and a rule, and there he tested them,

So Moses cried out to the Lord for help, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. Moses threw it into the water, and this made the water good to drink. It was there at Marah that the Lord set before them the following decree as a standard to test their faithfulness to him.

And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree,[ which] when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

Then he cried to Yahweh. Yahweh showed him a tree, and he threw it into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There he made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there he tested them.

留下这几族，为要试验以色列人，知道他们肯听从耶和华藉摩西吩咐他们列祖的诫命不肯。

法老临近的时候，以色列人举目看见埃及人赶来，就甚惧怕，向耶和华哀求。

你也要记念耶和华你的神在旷野引导你这四十年，是要苦炼你，试验你，要知道你心内如何，肯守他的诫命不肯。

耶和华对摩西说：“我要将粮食从天降给你们。百姓可以出去，每天收每天的份，我好试验他们遵不遵我的法度。

神啊，你曾试验我们，熬炼我们，如熬炼银子一样。

耶和华留下这几族，为要试验那不曾知道与迦南争战之事的以色列人，

为要藉此试验以色列人，看他们肯照他们列祖谨守遵行我的道不肯。”

又在旷野将你列祖所不认识的吗哪赐给你吃，是要苦炼你，试验你，叫你终久享福；

以利沙说：“拿点面来”，就把面撒在锅中，说：“倒出来，给众人吃吧！”锅中就没有毒了。

摩西就呼求耶和华说：“我向这百姓怎样行呢？他们几乎要拿石头打死我。”

他出到水源，将盐倒在水中，说：“耶和华如此说：‘我治好了这水，从此必不再使人死，也不再使地土不生产。’”

在他的祭司中有摩西和亚伦；在求告他名的人中有撒母耳。他们求告耶和华，他就应允他们。

你也不可听那先知或是那做梦之人的话；因为这是耶和华你们的神试验你们，要知道你们是尽心尽性爱耶和华你们的神不是。

因为十字架的道理，在那灭亡的人为愚拙；在我们得救的人，却为神的大能。

百姓回答约书亚说：“不然，我们定要侍奉耶和华。”约书亚对百姓说：“你们选定耶和华，要侍奉他，你们自己作见证吧！”他们说：“我们愿意作见证。”约书亚说：“你们现在要除掉你们中间的外邦神，专心归向耶和华以色列的神。”百姓回答约书亚说：“我们必侍奉耶和华我们的神，听从他的话。”当日，约书亚就与百姓立约，在示剑为他们立定律例典章。

耶和华对我说：“虽有摩西和撒母耳站在我面前代求，我的心也不顾惜这百姓。你将他们从我眼前赶出，叫他们去吧！

你在急难中呼求，我就搭救你；我在雷的隐密处应允你，在米利巴水那里试验你。细拉

所以万军之耶和华如此说：“看哪，我要将他们熔化熬炼；不然，我因我百姓的罪该怎样行呢？

他若求告我，我就应允他；他在急难中，我要与他同在；我要搭救他，使他尊贵。

因此，你们是大有喜乐；但如今，在百般的试炼中暂时忧愁，叫你们的信心既被试验，就比那被火试验仍然能坏的金子更显宝贵，可以在耶稣基督显现的时候得着称赞、荣耀、尊贵。

鼎为炼银，炉为炼金；惟有耶和华熬炼人心。

并要在患难之日求告我；我必搭救你，你也要荣耀我。”
