When they came to Marah, they couldn’t drink from the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore its name was called Marah.

到了玛拉，不能喝那里的水；因为水苦，所以那地名叫玛拉。

至馬喇、得水殊苦、人弗能飲、故稱其名曰、馬喇、

至瑪拉、瑪拉水苦、人不能飲、故名其地曰瑪拉、瑪拉譯即苦之義

When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter.( That is why the place is called Marah.)

They traveled from before Hahiroth, and crossed through the middle of the sea into the wilderness. They went three days’ journey in the wilderness of Etham, and encamped in Marah.
