When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said,“ What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!”

The king of Egypt was told that the people had escaped. Then Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them. They said,“ What have we done? We’ve let the people of Israel go! We’ve lost our slaves and all the work they used to do for us!”

When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said,“ What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?”

When word reached the king of Egypt that the Israelites had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds.“ What have we done, letting all those Israelite slaves get away?” they asked.

他使敌人的心转去恨他的百姓，用诡计待他的仆人。

倘若他们因认识我们的主和救主耶稣基督而得以脱离世上的污秽，后来又被污秽缠住，被制伏，他们末后的景况就比先前更不好了。他们知道义路，竟背弃了传授给他们那神圣的诫命，倒不如不知道为妙。俗语说得好，这话正印证在他们身上了：“狗转过来吃自己所吐的；”又说：“猪洗净了，又回到烂泥里打滚。”

“污灵离了人身，走遍无水之地寻找安歇之处，却找不到。就说：‘我要回到我原来的屋里去。’他到了，看见里面打扫干净，修饰好了，就去另带了七个比自己更恶的灵来，都进去住在那里。那人后来的景况比先前更坏了。”

所有前来立约的领袖和众百姓都顺从，各人释放自己的仆人和婢女，使他们得自由，不再叫他们作奴仆。大家都顺从，将仆婢释放了。但后来他们又反悔，叫被释放得自由的仆人婢女回来，强迫他们仍为仆婢。因此耶和华的话临到耶利米，说：“耶和华—以色列的上帝如此说：我将你们祖先从埃及地为奴之家领出时，与他们立约说：‘你的一个希伯来弟兄若卖给你，服事你六年，到第七年你们各人就要释放他自由出去。’只是你们祖先不听我，不侧耳而听。如今你们回转，行我眼中看为正的事，各人向邻舍宣告自由，并且在我面前、在称为我名下的殿中立约。你们却反悔，亵渎我的名，各人叫所释放得自由的仆人婢女回来，强迫他们仍为仆婢。所以耶和华如此说：你们不听从我，各人不向弟兄邻舍宣告自由。看哪！我要向你们宣告自由，把你们自由地交给刀剑、饥荒、瘟疫，并且使地上万国因你们而惊骇。这是耶和华说的。

埃及人催促百姓赶快离开那地，因为埃及人说：“我们都快死了。”
