When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said,“ What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!”

使敌人的心转去恨他的百姓，并用诡计待他的仆人。

倘若他们因认识主救主耶稣基督，得以脱离世上的污秽，后来又在其中被缠住、制伏，他们末后的景况就比先前更不好了。他们晓得义路，竟背弃了传给他们的圣命，倒不如不晓得为妙。俗语说得真不错：狗所吐的，它转过来又吃；猪洗净了又回到泥里去滚；这话在他们身上正合适。

“污鬼离了人身，就在无水之地过来过去，寻求安歇之处；既寻不着，便说：‘我要回到我所出来的屋里去。’到了，就看见里面打扫干净，修饰好了，便去另带了七个比自己更恶的鬼来，都进去住在那里。那人末后的景况比先前更不好了。”

所有立约的首领和众民就任他的仆人婢女自由出去，谁也不再叫他们作奴仆。大家都顺从，将他们释放了；后来却又反悔，叫所任去自由的仆人婢女回来，勉强他们仍为仆婢。因此耶和华的话临到耶利米说：“耶和华以色列的神如此说：‘我将你们的列祖从埃及地为奴之家领出来的时候，与他们立约说：‘你的一个希伯来弟兄若卖给你，服侍你六年，到第七年你们各人就要任他自由出去。’只是你们列祖不听从我，也不侧耳而听。如今你们回转，行我眼中看为正的事，各人向邻舍宣告自由，并且在称为我名下的殿中、在我面前立约。你们却又反悔，亵渎我的名，各人叫所任去随意自由的仆人婢女回来，勉强他们仍为仆婢。’所以耶和华如此说：‘你们没有听从我，各人向弟兄邻舍宣告自由。看哪！我向你们宣告一样自由，就是使你们自由于刀剑、饥荒、瘟疫之下，并且使你们在天下万国中抛来抛去。这是耶和华说的。

埃及人催促百姓，打发他们快快出离那地，因为埃及人说：“我们都要死了。”
