And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.

我必使之剛愎厥心、追襲於後、我將獲榮於法老、及其軍旅、俾埃及人知我為耶和華、以色列人遂如是行、

法老剛愎厥心、追襲爾後、我姑聽之、迨殲法老、覆其軍、以獲大榮、使埃及人知行是事者、我耶和華也。以色列族遵命而行。○

我使法老剛愎其心、追以色列人、我則因法老與其全軍而獲大榮、俾伊及人知我乃主、以色列人遂如此行、

And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” So the Israelites did this.

I will make Pharaoh stubborn. He will chase them. But I will gain glory for myself because of what will happen to Pharaoh and his whole army. And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” So the Israelites camped by the Red Sea.

And once again I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will chase after you. I have planned this in order to display my glory through Pharaoh and his whole army. After this the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord!” So the Israelites camped there as they were told.

I will harden Pharaoh’s heart so that he will pursue them. Then I will receive glory by means of Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD.” So the Israelites did this.

What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—

The Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring out the people of Israel from among them.”

For the Scripture says to Pharaoh,“ For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt,

But for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.

Thus says the Lord,“ By this you shall know that I am the Lord: behold, with the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water that is in the Nile, and it shall turn into blood.

You blew with your wind; the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters.“ Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?

But I acted for the sake of my name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they lived, in whose sight I made myself known to them in bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen.And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”

The peoples have heard; they tremble; pangs have seized the inhabitants of Philistia.Now are the chiefs of Edom dismayed; trembling seizes the leaders of Moab; all the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away.Terror and dread fall upon them; because of the greatness of your arm, they are still as a stone, till your people, O Lord, pass by, till the people pass by whom you have purchased.

and the king answered and said,“ Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?”While the words were still in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven,“ O King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you,and you shall be driven from among men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. And you shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and seven periods of time shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will.”Immediately the word was fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar. He was driven from among men and ate grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair grew as long as eagles’ feathers, and his nails were like birds’ claws.At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation;all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him,“ What have you done?”At the same time my reason returned to me, and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and splendor returned to me. My counselors and my lords sought me, and I was established in my kingdom, and still more greatness was added to me.Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble.

After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out,“ Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,for his judgments are true and just; for he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”Once more they cried out,“ Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up forever and ever.”And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who was seated on the throne, saying,“ Amen. Hallelujah!”And from the throne came a voice saying,“ Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, small and great.”Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,“ Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.

And the Lord said to Moses,“ When you go back to Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the miracles that I have put in your power. But I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go.Then you shall say to Pharaoh,‘ Thus says the Lord, Israel is my firstborn son,and I say to you,“ Let my son go that he may serve me.” If you refuse to let him go, behold, I will kill your firstborn son.’”At a lodging place on the way the Lord met him and sought to put him to death.Then Zipporah took a flint and cut off her son’s foreskin and touched Moses’ feet with it and said,“ Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me!”So he let him alone. It was then that she said,“ A bridegroom of blood,” because of the circumcision.The Lord said to Aaron,“ Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” So he went and met him at the mountain of God and kissed him.And Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord with which he had sent him to speak, and all the signs that he had commanded him to do.Then Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the people of Israel.Aaron spoke all the words that the Lord had spoken to Moses and did the signs in the sight of the people.And the people believed; and when they heard that the Lord had visited the people of Israel and that he had seen their affliction, they bowed their heads and worshiped.

Still Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Pharaoh’s heart is hardened; he refuses to let the people go.

And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the people of Israel while the people of Israel were going out defiantly.

The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the lofty pride of men shall be humbled, and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.For the Lord of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up— and it shall be brought low;

All the people of the land will bury them, and it will bring them renown on the day that I show my glory, declares the Lord God.

Now I know that the Lord is greater than all gods, because in this affair they dealt arrogantly with the people.”

and performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh and all his servants and all the people of his land, for you knew that they acted arrogantly against our fathers. And you made a name for yourself, as it is to this day.

as it is written,“ God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day.”

and say, Thus says the Lord God:“ Behold, I am against you, O Sidon, and I will manifest my glory in your midst. And they shall know that I am the Lord when I execute judgments in her and manifest my holiness in her;
