他們對摩西說：「難道埃及沒有墳地，要你帶我們出來死在曠野嗎？為什麼要帶我們離開埃及呢？

他們對摩西說：「難道在埃及沒有墳地，你把我們帶來死在曠野嗎？你為甚麼這樣待我們，將我們從埃及領出來呢？

對摩西說：『難道在埃及沒有墳墓，你得把我們帶來，死在曠野麼？你為甚麼這樣待我們，將我們從埃及領出來呢？

謂摩西曰、豈以埃及無塚地、而導我出、使亡於野乎、曷待我如是、俾我去埃及耶、

亦謂摩西曰、在埃及、豈無塚地、而導我出、使亡於野、曷待我若是。

謂摩西曰、爾導我出死在曠野、得毋因伊及地無墓乎、爾導我出伊及、何為待我若是、

They said to Moses,“ Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?

They said to Moses,“ Why did you bring us to the desert to die? Weren’t there any graves in Egypt? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?

They said to Moses,“ Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt?

and they said to Moses,“ Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt?

They said to Moses,“ Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?

Then they said to Moses,“ Is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt with us in this way, bringing us out of Egypt?

Then they said to Moses,“ Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt?

And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to bring us forth out of Egypt?

They said to Moses:“ Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you took us to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?

And they said unto Moses, Because[ there were] no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

and they said to Moses,“ Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the desert? What in the world have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?

They said to Moses,“ Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you treated us this way, to bring us out of Egypt?

我們祖先在埃及漠視你行的神蹟，忘記你向他們屢施慈愛，在紅海邊反叛你。但祂為了自己的名拯救了他們，以彰顯祂的大能。

當晚，全體會眾放聲大哭，整夜哀號。他們埋怨摩西和亞倫說：「我們還不如死在埃及或曠野！耶和華為什麼把我們領到這裡來，讓我們死於刀下？我們的妻兒必被擄去。我們還不如返回埃及。」他們彼此議論說：「我們選一位首領帶我們回埃及吧！」

百姓便跟摩西吵鬧，要他給他們水喝。摩西便對他們說：「你們為什麼跟我吵鬧？為什麼試探耶和華？」百姓非常口渴，他們向摩西抱怨說：「你為什麼要把我們帶出埃及，讓我們一家大小和牲畜都在這裡渴死？」

以色列全體會眾在曠野向摩西和亞倫發怨言說：「我們還不如當初在埃及就死在耶和華手中。在那裡，我們至少可以圍在肉鍋旁吃個飽。現在，你把我們帶到曠野來，是要叫全體會眾餓死在這裡嗎？」

你既然這樣對待我，求你施恩殺了我吧，別讓我受苦了！」

民眾因為困難而發怨言，傳到耶和華耳中。耶和華聽見後便向他們發怒，使火在他們中間燃燒，燒毀了營地的邊緣部分。

到了瑪拉，那裡的水卻是苦的，不能喝。因此那地方叫瑪拉。百姓就埋怨摩西說：「我們喝什麼呢？」

以色列說：「你們為什麼告訴他你們還有一個弟弟，給我惹麻煩呢？」

第二天，以色列全體會眾都埋怨摩西和亞倫說：「你們害死了耶和華的子民。」

摩西回到耶和華那裡說：「主啊！你為什麼這樣苦待你的子民呢？為什麼要派我去呢？
