This observance will be for you like a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that this law of the Lord is to be on your lips. For the Lord brought you out of Egypt with his mighty hand.

When you celebrate this holy day, it will be like a mark on your hand. It will be like a reminder on your forehead. This law of the Lord must be on your lips. The Lord used his mighty hand to bring you out of Egypt.

And it shall be to you as a sign on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that the law of the Lord may be in your mouth. For with a strong hand the Lord has brought you out of Egypt.

This annual festival will be a visible sign to you, like a mark branded on your hand or your forehead. Let it remind you always to recite this teaching of the Lord:‘ With a strong hand, the Lord rescued you from Egypt.’

Fix these words of mine into your mind and being, and tie them as a reminder on your hands and let them be symbols on your forehead.Teach them to your children and speak of them as you sit in your house, as you walk along the road, as you lie down, and as you get up.

You must have this tassel so that you may look at it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and obey them and so that you do not follow after your own heart and your own eyes that lead you to unfaithfulness.

They do all their deeds to be seen by people, for they make their phylacteries wide and their tassels long.

Moses said to the people,“ Remember this day on which you came out from Egypt, from the place where you were enslaved, for the LORD brought you out of there with a mighty hand– and no bread made with yeast may be eaten.

My child, do not let them escape from your sight; safeguard sound wisdom and discretion.

Then the LORD said to Moses,“ Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh, for compelled by my strong hand he will release them, and by my strong hand he will drive them out of his land.”God spoke to Moses and said to him,“ I am the LORD.I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name‘ the LORD’ I was not known to them.I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they were living as resident foreigners.I have also heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.Therefore, tell the Israelites,‘ I am the LORD. I will bring you out from your enslavement to the Egyptians, I will rescue you from the hard labor they impose, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.I will take you to myself for a people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from your enslavement to the Egyptians.I will bring you to the land I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob– and I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD!’”Moses told this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and hard labor.Then the LORD said to Moses,“ Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt that he must release the Israelites from his land.”But Moses replied to the LORD,“ If the Israelites did not listen to me, then how will Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with difficulty?”The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron and gave them a charge for the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt to bring the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.These are the heads of their fathers’ households: The sons of Reuben, the firstborn son of Israel, were Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi. These were the clans of Reuben.The sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman. These were the clans of Simeon.Now these are the names of the sons of Levi, according to their records: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.( The length of Levi’s life was 137 years.)The sons of Gershon, by their families, were Libni and Shimei.The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.( The length of Kohath’s life was 133 years.)The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of Levi, according to their records.Amram married his father’s sister Jochebed, and she bore him Aaron and Moses.( The length of Amram’s life was 137 years.)The sons of Izhar were Korah, Nepheg, and Zikri.The sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan, and Sithri.Aaron married Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab and sister of Nahshon, and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.The sons of Korah were Assir, Elkanah, and Abiasaph. These were the Korahite clans.Now Eleazar son of Aaron married one of the daughters of Putiel and she bore him Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers’ households of Levi according to their clans.It was the same Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said,“ Bring the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by their regiments.”They were the men who were speaking to Pharaoh king of Egypt, in order to bring the Israelites out of Egypt. It was the same Moses and Aaron.When the LORD spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt,he said to him,“ I am the LORD. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I am telling you.”But Moses said before the LORD,“ Since I speak with difficulty, why should Pharaoh listen to me?”

Wake up! Wake up! Clothe yourself with strength, O arm of the LORD! Wake up as in former times, as in antiquity! Did you not smash the Proud One? Did you not wound the sea monster?

For the thing is very near you– it is in your mouth and in your mind so that you can do it.

For this reason, she will experience her plagues in a single day: disease, mourning, and famine, and she will be burned down with fire, because the Lord God who judges her is powerful!”

Look, the sovereign LORD comes as a victorious warrior; his military power establishes his rule. Look, his reward is with him; his prize goes before him.

The LORD says,“ As surely as I am the living God, you, Jeconiah, king of Judah, son of Jehoiakim, will not be the earthly representative of my authority. Indeed, I will take that right away from you.

“ As for me, this is my promise to them,” says the LORD.“ My spirit, who is upon you, and my words, which I have placed in your mouth, will not depart from your mouth or from the mouths of your children and descendants from this time forward,” says the LORD.

But what does it say?“ The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”( that is, the word of faith that we preach),

These words I am commanding you today must be kept in mind,

This law scroll must not leave your lips! You must memorize it day and night so you can carefully obey all that is written in it. Then you will prosper and be successful.I repeat, be strong and brave! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic, for I, the LORD your God, am with you in all you do.”

Your arm is powerful, your hand strong, your right hand victorious.

The voice of the LORD thunders as he leads his army. Indeed, his warriors are innumerable; Surely his command is carried out! Yes, the day of the LORD is awesome and very terrifying– who can survive it?

My child, guard the commands of your father and do not forsake the instruction of your mother.Bind them on your heart continually; fasten them around your neck.When you walk about, they will guide you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; when you wake up, they will talk to you.For the commandments are like a lamp, instruction is like a light, and rebukes of discipline are like the road leading to life,

Look, I have inscribed your name on my palms; your walls are constantly before me.

For they will be like an elegant garland on your head, and like pendants around your neck.

At that time the LORD will punish with his destructive, great, and powerful sword Leviathan the fast-moving serpent, Leviathan the squirming serpent; he will kill the sea monster.

Set me like a cylinder seal over your heart, like a signet on your arm. For love is as strong as death, passion is as unrelenting as Sheol. Its flames burst forth, it is a blazing flame.

till an arrow pierces his liver– like a bird hurrying into a trap, and he does not know that it will cost him his life.
