“ On the seventh day you must explain to your children,‘ I am celebrating what the Lord did for me when I left Egypt.’

其時當告汝子云、是禮也、乃誌出埃及時、耶和華為我所行者、

當告子孫、昔出埃及、耶和華拯我儕、故行此禮。

當日宜告爾子云、我行此禮、以誌我出伊及時主向我所行之事、

On that day tell your son,‘ I do this because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

On that day talk to your child. Say,‘ I’m doing this because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

You shall tell your son on that day,‘ It is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

On that day explain to your son,‘ This is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

And you shall tell your son on that day, saying,‘ It is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

And you shall tell your son in that day, saying,‘ This is done because of what the Lord did for me when I came up from Egypt.’

And thou shalt tell thy son in that day, saying, It is because of that which Jehovah did for me when I came forth out of Egypt.

On that day explain to your son,‘ This is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying,[ This is done] because of that[ which] the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.

You are to tell your son on that day,‘ It is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

You shall tell your son in that day, saying,‘ It is because of that which Yahweh did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

“ And in the future, your children will ask you,‘ What does all this mean?’ Then you will tell them,‘ With the power of his mighty hand, the Lord brought us out of Egypt, the place of our slavery.

O God, we have heard it with our own ears— our ancestors have told us of all you did in their day, in days long ago:

Only the living can praise you as I do today. Each generation tells of your faithfulness to the next.

Then your children will ask,‘ What does this ceremony mean?’And you will reply,‘ It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, for he passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt. And though he struck the Egyptians, he spared our families.’” When Moses had finished speaking, all the people bowed down to the ground and worshiped.

“ But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren.Never forget the day when you stood before the Lord your God at Mount Sinai, where he told me,‘ Summon the people before me, and I will personally instruct them. Then they will learn to fear me as long as they live, and they will teach their children to fear me also.’

I’ve also done it so you can tell your children and grandchildren about how I made a mockery of the Egyptians and about the signs I displayed among them— and so you will know that I am the Lord.”

stories we have heard and known, stories our ancestors handed down to us.We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders.For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children,so the next generation might know them— even the children not yet born— and they in turn will teach their own children.So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting his glorious miracles and obeying his commands.Then they will not be like their ancestors— stubborn, rebellious, and unfaithful, refusing to give their hearts to God.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.
