The priests were splashing the blood as the Levites handed it to them.Because many in the assembly had not consecrated themselves, the Levites slaughtered the Passover lambs of all who were ceremonially unclean and could not consecrate their sacrifice to the LORD.The majority of the many people from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun were ceremonially unclean, yet they ate the Passover in violation of what is prescribed in the law. “ For indeed both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, assembled together in this city against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed,

“‘ In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, you will celebrate the Passover, and for seven days bread made without yeast will be eaten.

The LORD spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt:“ The Israelites are to observe the Passover at its appointed time.In the fourteenth day of this month, at twilight, you are to observe it at its appointed time; you must keep it in accordance with all its statutes and all its customs.”

Then the whole group of them rose up and brought Jesus before Pilate.

Observe the month Abib and keep the Passover to the LORD your God, for in that month he brought you out of Egypt by night.You must sacrifice the Passover animal( from the flock or the herd) to the LORD your God in the place where he chooses to locate his name.You must not eat any yeast with it; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast, symbolic of affliction, for you came out of Egypt hurriedly. You must do this so you will remember for the rest of your life the day you came out of the land of Egypt.There must not be a scrap of yeast within your land for seven days, nor can any of the meat you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain until the next morning.You may not sacrifice the Passover in just any of your villages that the LORD your God is giving you,but you must sacrifice it in the evening in the place where he chooses to locate his name, at sunset, the time of day you came out of Egypt.

this man, who was handed over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you executed by nailing him to a cross at the hands of Gentiles.

Early in the morning, after forming a plan, the chief priests with the elders and the experts in the law and the whole Sanhedrin tied Jesus up, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate.

It was nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified him.

At about three o’clock Jesus shouted with a loud voice,“ Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is,“ My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”When some of the bystanders heard it, they said,“ This man is calling for Elijah.”Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge, filled it with sour wine, put it on a stick, and gave it to him to drink.But the rest said,“ Leave him alone! Let’s see if Elijah will come to save him.”Then Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and gave up his spirit.

Now when it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.Around three o’clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice,“ Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means,“ My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release Barabbas instead.

All of us had wandered off like sheep; each of us had strayed off on his own path, but the LORD caused the sin of all of us to attack him.

But you rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a man who was a murderer be released to you.
