The priests and the Levites were ashamed and consecrated themselves and brought burnt offerings to the temple of the Lord.Then they took up their regular positions as prescribed in the Law of Moses the man of God. The priests splashed against the altar the blood handed to them by the Levites.Since many in the crowd had not consecrated themselves, the Levites had to kill the Passover lambs for all those who were not ceremonially clean and could not consecrate their lambs to the Lord.Although most of the many people who came from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun had not purified themselves, yet they ate the Passover, contrary to what was written. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink.The rest said,“ Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to save him.”And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. (niv)

At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice,“ Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?”( which means“ My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”). (niv)

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have Pilate release Barabbas instead. (niv)

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (niv)

You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. (niv)
