耶和华对摩西说：“你到了埃及，见到法老的时候，务要照我赐给你的能力在法老面前行神迹。但我要使他的心刚硬，他必不让百姓离开。

但耶和华使法老的心刚硬，不肯让以色列百姓离开。

可是，耶和华又使法老心硬，不让以色列人离开埃及。

还是你藐视祂深厚的慈爱、宽容和忍耐，不知道祂的慈爱是要引导你悔改吗？你这样硬着心不肯悔改等于是为自己积蓄烈怒，上帝的烈怒在祂施行公义审判的那天必临到你。

希实本王西宏却拒绝我们的请求，因为我们的上帝耶和华使他顽固不化，好让我们击败他，正如今日的情形。

倘若上帝要显示祂的烈怒和权能，就尽量容忍那些祂预备要毁灭的器皿，

祂充满智慧，能力无比，谁能抗拒祂还可平安无恙？

你们为什么像法老和埃及人那样心里顽固呢？当上帝严厉地对待他们时，他们岂没有让以色列人离开埃及吗？

法老却仍然硬着心，不肯听从摩西和亚伦，正如耶和华所言。耶和华对摩西说：“法老非常顽固，不肯释放百姓。
